"A Kick for Peace" returns after two years

With the pandemic emergency now behind us, which put the last two editions on hold, the Sammarinese summer once again embraces the "A Kick for Peace" project, promoted by the San Marino Football Federation in cooperation with the Universal Peace Foundation. Sixteen teenage boys from the Israeli-Palestinian area, belonging to different religious backgrounds, will be guests in San Marino until next Monday. The project aims to promote integration and dialogue through football and the shared experience of a trip abroad. Having landed late yesterday evening at Bologna airport, the boys and their coaches were escorted by the FSGC to the Republic, where they will be staying for the entire weekend. The first activities are scheduled for this afternoon: once the inevitable fatigue from travelling has worn off, at 15:00 the sixteen boys will take part in a training session at the Federico Crescentini Stadium in Fiorentino, together with peers from the San Marino Academy. The Audience granted by the Captains Regent, H.E. Oscar Mina and H.E. Paolo Rondelli is instead scheduled for tomorrow morning, and will also be attended by representatives of the FSGC and the UPF (Universal Peace Foundation). Saturday’s programme, in addition to lunch organised in the historic centre of San Marino, includes another training session at the Montegiardino facility. On Sunday morning, a friendly match is planned with Sammarinese and Italian youngsters from the San Marino Academy, ahead of an afternoon dedicated to relaxation and fun in Montecerreto – at San Marino Adventures. The hope is that, as was the case for the many other Israeli-Palestinian peers and compatriots who have taken part in this project in recent years, the boys who arrived in the Republic yesterday will also enjoy an unforgettable and enriching experience.
