Referees: D’Adamo and Ilie at the Futsal Champions League Main Round and Dakar Olympic Games
There have been two recent international appointments featuring San Marino’s FIFA Futsal Referees, Daniele D’Adamo and Laurentiu Ilie. The former was appointed to Group 5 of Path B in the 2026-2027 UEFA Futsal Champions League at Main Round stage, played in Poland from 27 to 30 October. Ilie instead travelled to Senegal to take part in the futsal tournaments (men’s and women’s) at the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games, currently taking place from 31 October to 13 November.
D’Adamo was involved in the group phase of the premier European club futsal competition, with all matches in the group hosted at the PreZero Arena in Gliwice. For the San Marino official it was a three-day schedule, taking on different roles within the various refereeing teams. On Matchday 1, D’Adamo was the first referee in the 19:00 kick-off between Piast Gliwice (POL) and Buba Mara (BIH), which ended 4-2 to the home side. The following day he was appointed as third referee for the meeting between Buba Mara and Araz-Naxçivan (AZE), won 5-3 by the Bosnians, before serving as second referee in the evening game between Piast Gliwice and Újpest (HUN), which finished 2-2. On the third and final day, D’Adamo again acted as second referee in the clash between Újpest and Buba Mara, which ended in a resounding 8-2 win for the Bosnian side and proved a demanding test for the match officials, as underlined by the sending-off of Buba Mara player Pedro Silva in the 5th minute of the second half. The last assignment for the San Marino referee was as third referee in the decisive match between Piast Gliwice and Araz-Naxçivan, which would determine the group winners and the only team to book a place in the round of 16. The match ended 5-0 in favour of Piast Gliwice, who were able to celebrate qualification for the next round with their large home support.
For Laurentiu Ilie, the appointment concerns the Youth Olympic Futsal Tournaments Dakar 2026, the men’s and women’s futsal competitions included in the Youth Olympic Games programme – reserved for U18 national futsal teams. Having already been informed of this prestigious assignment during the summer, the San Marino referee is currently on duty in Senegal. The event features sixteen national teams, eight in each tournament, representing the different continental confederations. Tomorrow, the FIFA Futsal Referee from San Marino will take charge as first referee for Afghanistan v Argentina, scheduled for 15:30. Yesterday he made his absolute debut at the Olympic event, acting as Second Referee for Solomon Islands v Paraguay – again in the men’s competition. The matches are being played between the Iba Mar Diop Sports Complex and the Dakar Arena in Diamniadio. The group stage, running from 1 to 7 November, precedes the women’s semi-finals on 8 November and the men’s semi-finals the following day. The finals for the women’s medals will be played on 11 November, with the men’s medal matches scheduled for 12 November.
