Referees: international debut in Albania for Laurentiu Ilie

The long-awaited official debut in international fixtures has arrived for Laurentiu Ilie. A FIFA Futsal referee since the start of this calendar year, he was appointed to the team of match officials for the mini-tournament played in Albania from 21 to 24 August – valid as the Preliminary Round of the UEFA Futsal Champions League. The arena in the capital, the Hall Tirana Olimpik Park, rewarded Finland’s Akaa at the end of a three-way battle that was exciting and hard-fought right up to the final second. Involved in five matches, Ilie took charge as first referee for Tirana-Ísbjörninn, after making his overall debut the previous day in Akaa-Ísbjörninn – in the role of second match official. Five appointments in total, out of a possible six, in which Ilie also served as third referee on two occasions.
