Referees: National Refereeing Commission established, Busignani at the helm of the A.S.A.

Changes in the Refereeing Sector of the FSGC. With the introduction of the new regulations, in force since last March, what was previously the Refereeing Committee has effectively become the National Refereeing Commission (CAN), following the model used in Italy. There are also new faces within the CAN – with four out of five members appointed directly by the Federal Council – with Cristiano Ascari as President alongside members Massimo Nanni, Massimo Mattei and Giacomo Cenci. The latter, a referee with many years of experience in San Marino football, is the new entry compared to the confirmed appointments of Mattei (observer), Nanni (UEFA futsal delegate) and Ascari (UEFA delegate). The quartet is joined by Marcello Busignani, elected by the National Refereeing Department through an assembly. In addition to joining the CAN, Busignani also becomes President of the Associazione Sammarinese Arbitri, succeeding the long-serving number one, Teodosio Agatiello. Not part of the newly formed CAN is also Stefano Podeschi, who will however retain his role as Head of the Federal Office responsible for the Refereeing Sector.
