Referees: new European exchange between San Marino and Malta
A new refereeing exchange experience for match officials from the Titan. Last weekend, a four-man ASA team flew to Malta to take charge of two BOV Challenge Cup fixtures (the Maltese second division). The first match was played on Saturday 6 April at the Victor Tedesco Stadium between Luqa and Swieqi, with Nicola Villa in the middle, assisted by Gianmarco Ercolani and Alfonso Gallo. The fourth official was Michele Beltrano.
The following day, Sunday 7 April, Beltrano was the referee for the match between Melita and Zurrieq, played at the Centenary Stadium. Beltrano was assisted on the touchlines by Ercolani and Gallo, with Nicola Villa acting as fourth official on this occasion. Also in Malta was Giacomo Cenci, in his role as referee observer for last Sunday’s Premier League fixture (Maltese top division) between Sliema Wanderers and Hibernians.
The refereeing exchange between San Marino and the Mediterranean island will conclude on the weekend of 13-14 April, when a Maltese team of four officials – referee Darryl Agius, assistants Vasil Vasilev and David Castillo, and observer William Debattista – will officiate in San Marino on Matchday 29 of the Campionato Sammarinese BKN301.
