Walking Football: initiative open to all interested Over-50s
Important developments for one of the main projects launched by the San Marino FA in terms of health and well-being through non-competitive sporting activity. The Walking Football initiative, for which diabetic patients will be given priority access, is from today open to all Over-50s interested in taking part.
Walking Football (a version of football with specific rules, such as a ban on running and tackling) aims – through an enjoyable, engaging and safe form of play – to reduce sedentary lifestyles and encourage social interaction within a group, while minimising the risk of injuries normally associated with a regular football match. The programme includes a weekly training session of around one and a half hours; it will be free of charge and overseen by specialised fitness coaches. Sessions will take place at the Fonte dell'Ovo sports hall on Wednesday evenings at 18:15, starting from mid-January and continuing for the following three months.
