BKN301 Championship: derby delight and leapfrogging win for Juvenes-Dogana

It was all happening in the late fixtures of matchday eight in the BKN301 Campionato Sammarinese, packed with goals and drama. At the Federico Crescentini in Fiorentino, Pennarossa and Domagnano shared the two halves and ultimately took a point apiece. For Farabegoli’s men, though, it felt like a missed opportunity after taking a two-goal lead courtesy of a Stefanelli brace. Following a couple of ineffective forays, the Chiesanuova side broke the deadlock through a through ball from Cecchetti that set up the lethal left foot of the San Marino forward. After the restart, Stefanelli was on hand again to make the most of a driven shot-cross from Ben Kacem, turning in from close range the ball delivered by his strike partner. With the game seemingly under control, Pennarossa were guilty of allowing Domagnano back into it through a key, momentum-shifting episode. Linking up down the all-Sammarinese axis Bonini–Babboni, the Wolves pulled one back for 1-2 on 76 minutes and launched themselves in pursuit of an equaliser that finally arrived at the death. After a huge chance squandered by Ferraro and a narrowly off-target diagonal effort from Babboni, it was Bacchiocchi who struck for the final 2-2 with virtually the last kick of the game: perfect movement to the near post to glance home Ramundo’s corner, just moments before the final whistle. The Serravalle Castle derby was tense and thrilling, with the blistering start from Juvenes-Dogana effectively delivering all three points. Colonna opened the scoring as early as the 6th minute at the end of a surge from D’Angeli, making the most of a pinball sequence in the heart of the opposition box. The second goal arrived just over ten minutes later and bore the signature of Benedetti, who got the break of the ball in a midfield challenge that opened up a central corridor for him: Amati’s forward showed real composure and made no mistake one-on-one with Pollini. His opposite number Gentilini produced a superb save to deny former team-mate Bernardi on 24 minutes, while Juvenes-Dogana then wasted the chance to make it 3-0 through Colonna, careless as he tapped home D’Angeli’s pass into an empty net: the midfielder was beyond the line of the ball and the goal was correctly disallowed. After the interval Folgore came out with the right attitude, but the opposition goal seemed bewitched – not least in the triple chance that fell to Urbinati, who did not pause to protest on 59 minutes and instead kept going to get three shots away in quick succession. Gentilini’s miracle stop was wedged between two monumental goal-line clearances from Acquarelli, both with the keeper already beaten. The momentum now was all with the Giallorossoneri and Amati responded by loading his side with more defensively minded players; yet it was not enough to prevent Urbinati from finding the net on 69 minutes, rising above Acquarelli and heading inside the far post for 1-2. Folgore pulled one back and pushed hard, but just when the equaliser seemed a formality they were thwarted by Bernardi’s offside position – he had strayed beyond the last defender on Sartori’s cross, which had in fact been turned in from close range by Di Marzio. Bernardi’s simultaneous run, stretching in behind his team-mate, made his position active and led to the 2-2 being chalked off, sparking thinly veiled protests from Folgore. At the other end Baldazzi failed to put the game to bed, but the Falciano side could not drag the derby back onto level terms. After six minutes of stoppage time, the Serravalle derby ended with a hard-fought Juvenes-Dogana victory. On top of dropping points, Folgore also finished with the sending-off of Sartori – shown red after the final whistle. Lepri’s wide man will be available again after the break for November’s international window. These are the results from matchday eight of the BKN301 Campionato Sammarinese:
