BKN301 Championship, Cosmos v Tre Penne the highlight of Matchday 12
There are still two more rounds of the BKN301 Campionato Sammarinese to play before saying farewell to 2022 and resuming in January 2023. The battle at the top remains intense, with the top five sides separated by just six points.
La Fiorita are still league leaders on 27 points. After being stopped on 22 October by Tre Penne, Lasagni’s team have got back to winning ways with four victories on the bounce. In this twelfth round of the league the yellow and blues face Murata on Sunday. Bobo Sarti’s side, on the other hand, are in deep trouble: six defeats in a row and no win since 30 September.
The undoubted showpiece fixture of the round is Cosmos v Tre Penne. The blockbuster clash in Acquaviva (Saturday, 15:00) is effectively a play-off for second place, and whoever wins will stay on La Fiorita’s tail. Ceci’s team are one point ahead of the yellow and greens coached by Nicola Berardi and go into the game on the back of two straight wins. The Serravalle side, meanwhile, are coming off a goalless draw in the fog of Montecchio against Virtus, which halted a run of three consecutive victories. Looking to climb the table, and also take advantage of Tre Fiori’s rest week, are Virtus, who on Sunday (15:00) take on Folgore. Bizzotto’s black and greens complete the group of "leading" sides and are determined not to lose ground on the frontrunners. Lining up against them will be the Falciano team, who returned to winning ways on Matchday 10 after three defeats in a row.
Saturday’s 15:00 kick-off between Juvenes-Dogana and Libertas looks a very even contest: both are mid-table, but their momentum could not be more different. Amati’s side are in excellent form and coming off a near-perfect week thanks to their Coppa Titano victory over Tre Penne and their league win against Pennarossa. Sperindio’s maroon-clad team, in contrast, have not won for almost two months (their last success was on 8 October, 2-1 against Tre Fiori). Faetano are also desperate to get back to winning ways, having succumbed to La Fiorita a week ago and thus ending a positive run that had lasted six rounds. Mema (joint-top scorer with Prandelli, Merli and Ben Kacem on seven goals, and named BKN301 MVP for the month of November) and his team-mates will face Cailungo, who are fresh from an impressive 4-1 win over Murata in the previous round. One point behind Faetano sit San Giovanni, a team that does not do half measures: the red and blacks have yet to record a draw in the league (along with them, only La Fiorita and Murata have no draws), and on Saturday in Montecchio they meet Domagnano. For the yellow and red Wolves there has been just one league victory so far (22 October against Folgore).
Friday night’s curtain-raiser features Pennarossa v Fiorentino. Bobo Gori’s side are going through a rough patch: six defeats in their last seven outings and no win since 17 September; Malandri’s red and blues are also struggling, with three defeats in their last four leaving them rooted to the bottom of the table.
