BKN301 Championship: La Fiorita flawless, Virtus held to a draw

La Fiorita make no mistake as they claim their tenth win of the season in Sunday’s late fixture against Murata, tightening their grip on top spot in the BKN301 Sammarinese Championship. Lasagni’s side make a flying start and break down the black-and-whites’ defence after just five minutes: a cross from the right by Tommaso Zafferani, Bartolini attacks the near post and turns in for 1-0. Murata, however, stand up well to the yellow and blues’ pressure and, towards the end of the first half, they win a penalty, duly converted by Baldini to make it 1-1. The equaliser lasts only a few moments because seconds after the restart it is once again Zafferani, from the right, who delivers a good ball into the box, where Vitaioli arrives to fire home for 2-1. That proves more than enough for La Fiorita to take all three points and to pull away from Cosmos, who remain four points behind in second place. Virtus’ run, on the other hand, comes to a halt as they record a second consecutive draw in the other Sunday late kick-off against Folgore. Bizzotto’s side, after last week’s goalless draw in the fog against Cosmos, lose a little ground on the teams at the top of the table. Credit must also go to Folgore, who put in a big performance. Lepri’s giallorossoneri manage to break the deadlock in the 23rd minute thanks to the persistence of Di Marzio, who beats Passaniti with a right-footed effort from inside the area. The neroverdi react and, shortly before half-time, they level matters: another well-worked move starting from the ever-influential Buonocunto, who finds Angeli; with his first touch he spots the gap for Sorrentino, and the striker keeps his cool to beat Pollini. Virtus continue to press after the interval but cannot find the decisive spark. For Folgore, by contrast, this is a second positive result in a row, following last week’s win over Cailungo. The Sammarinese Championship will resume in a week’s time with matchday thirteen, the final round of fixtures in 2022.
