BKN301 Championship: San Marino Academy celebrate historic victory
The late fixtures of Matchday 3 in the BKN301 San Marino Championship deliver the first ever victory for San Marino Academy U22. A win wanted, chased and fully deserved by Matteo Cecchetti’s youngsters, who went in front thanks to a moment of brilliance from Tommaso Famiglietti, doing it all himself in the 27th minute. The forward drove infield from the left, leaving a couple of opponents in his wake before firing past Lazzarini from the heart of the penalty area. Unlike last week, the young Biancazzurri took their lead into the break and – after a few scares at the start of the second half – they put the result beyond doubt in the final quarter of an hour. Pietro Renzi released the ever-dangerous Famiglietti, sent through into open field and ice-cool as he doubled the lead in front of Lazzarini. A penalty won by Solito and converted by Giocondi effectively rolled the credits on the contest, which also had room for Pietro Renzi: his right-footed strike rocketed in from the edge of the box after excellent work by Giocondi. San Marino Academy U22 thus pick up the first points in their history in the San Marino Championship, a result built today on the performances of fourteen players holding San Marino passports.
The authorship of the other win, the fourth in a row this season, belongs to Rimini-born La Fiorita. Manfredini’s Gialloblù had to work extremely hard for the three points they took today against a combative, well-organised Folgore. The only goal of the afternoon in Acquaviva tilted the balance towards Montegiardino, scored by Jacopo Semprini. The former Murata midfielder made the most of good play by Olcese to unleash a strike from twenty metres that gave former team-mate Simone Venturini no chance. Another victory for La Fiorita takes them top of the table with maximum points from three matches – a position already reached by Virtus thanks to their comeback win over Juvenes-Dogana.
Tre Penne also had to come from behind, tasked with turning things around against Cailungo after just six minutes of play. That was all the time Jacopo Raschi needed to punish the lack of aggression from the Biancazzurri back line on a dead-ball situation, beating Migani from close range. Ceci’s men reacted, leaning on their star players. In the 26th minute Ceccaroli bravely hit Pieri’s cross first time, capitalising on a mistake by Masini to make it 1-1. Tre Penne reached the interval actually in front: thanks to Badalassi, sent clear in behind by Righini after Cailungo had cheaply given the ball away in midfield. The striker completed his brace on 73 minutes, meeting Vandi’s cross at the near post – the latter starting on the bench today. In the closing stages Tre Penne made the most of the space and sealed a fourth and final goal with a powerful run from Ceccaroli, released into open field by Cecchetti and flawless in finding the far bottom corner. The forward’s brace was thus matched by that of the latest Cristallo d’Oro winner, and Tre Penne stay just two points behind the teams looking down on everyone from the summit.
In the last match of the day, scheduled for 18:15 in Montecchio, Murata-Domagnano provided entertainment right up to the very last second. Giuseppe Angelini’s side collected a third win from as many games, making the most of the scoring form of Raul Ura. On target again today, Murata’s number ten broke the deadlock on 79 minutes, finishing off a break by Affonso. There were plenty of chances to score, especially for the team from Città, who proved less clinical in front of goal than in their earlier outings in the BKN301 San Marino Championship. One goal, however, was more than enough, as Gueye’s goal remained unbeaten. Murata stay top of the table with three wins from three, alongside Virtus and La Fiorita.
