Non-stop BKN301 Championship: action every day through to Sunday
Before the break for national team duty, the BKN301 Sammarinese Championship squeezes in two matchdays in six days. Matchday four kicks off with two early fixtures tomorrow evening in Montecchio and Acquaviva, and will close next Sunday with the 18:15 late game between La Fiorita and Murata.
Whether that last fixture turns into a top-of-the-table clash between sides with a perfect record will depend on how Manfredini’s and Angelini’s teams fare in the midweek round. Both will be on the pitch on Wednesday evening, playing simultaneously but effectively going head-to-head at distance with Virtus, who instead bring their game forward to tomorrow against Libertas. The Neroverdi, driven by an in-form Ivan Buonocunto with four goals in four matches – including the Super Cup – will test in Acquaviva the progress of the Granata, who finally celebrated their first win against Faetano – albeit with considerable effort.
There will also be a Cosmos side looking to bounce back tomorrow in Montecchio: with the headaches caused by the injuries to Zulli and Berardi, as well as D'Addario’s suspension, the Gialloverdi know they cannot afford further missteps if they are to keep their title ambitions fully intact. Fiorentino have shown they know how to trouble their opponents, despite two narrow – and not entirely deserved – defeats so far in the league.
On Wednesday as many as five matches will be played simultaneously, all kicking off at 21:15. Murata will be chasing a fifth consecutive victory at the expense of a San Giovanni side that, in their most recent outing, managed to hold Cosmos to a draw. The Bianconeri face the test of a fourth match in ten days, before preparing for the head‑to‑head with La Fiorita scheduled for Sunday evening. The Gialloblù from Montegiardino can rely on greater squad depth, but will also have to deal with a demanding assignment in the shape of today’s Juvenes-Dogana. At the Acquaviva Stadium, Amati’s players want to confirm their excellent form, which – due to a few fine details and a superb performance by Passaniti – did not quite translate into a positive result even against Virtus.
Currently two points adrift of the leading trio, Tre Penne have no intention of easing their grip. At the Ezio Conti Stadium in Dogana, Badalassi and his team-mates will face a resurgent Faetano. Pellegrino’s men came away empty-handed – and somewhat unfairly so – from their clash with Libertas, where they again showed some defensive shortcomings that had already cost them two heavy defeats at the start of the season. On the Tre Penne side, Ceci will want to avoid yet another slow start like those against San Marino Academy and Cailungo, even if the reigning champions did eventually come from behind to win on both occasions. The match which last season decided the Scudetto in favour of the club from Città will be played in Dogana – and, due to refurbishment work at the venue, it will not be possible to stream it live on TITANI.TV.
Wednesday’s programme also features Folgore v Domagnano. Both are coming off narrow defeats, against La Fiorita and Murata respectively, and will be hunting for valuable points in the context of their seasonal objectives. Should they manage a positive result, the Lupi would improve a worrying league position which, after 270 minutes, sees them bottom of the table, level with Faetano and Pennarossa, all yet to get off the mark. It is Pennarossa who bring Wednesday’s schedule to a close, facing Tre Fiori at the “Federico Crescentini” Stadium in Fiorentino. De Falco’s side have bounced back with two straight wins, the latest in the Castello derby: maintaining consistency will be crucial for a team that has undergone wholesale changes but still intends to play a leading role.
Finally, there is a single late fixture set for Thursday 5 October. At the Acquaviva Stadium, Matteo Cecchetti’s San Marino Academy will look to keep surprising. After their resounding win over Pennarossa – swept aside 4-0 by Famiglietti and company – the Biancazzurrini now face the Cailungo test. It will be the Academy’s first midweek outing, while for the Rossoverdi it will be a second in succession, having been in Coppa Titano action against La Fiorita last week.
