League: La Fiorita v Cosmos among the top-of-the-table clashes
It will be a weekend of big clashes in the eighth round of the Campionato Sammarinese, the first to be played in November. Standing out above all is the showdown between league leaders Cosmos and La Fiorita (third, three points back), but Virtus v Folgore also promises plenty of entertainment: in effect, these are direct head‑to‑head meetings between the top four in the table.
The match between Acquaviva’s Neroverdi and Falciano’s Giallorossoneri is one of two fixtures that will kick off the eighth matchday tomorrow (Dogana, 21:15). In the table, Folgore sit second; Lasagni’s side have won five of their last six games and are two points off the summit, while Virtus are fourth, four points behind the leaders, but Bizzotto’s men are coming off excellent performances against Murata in the league and Cosmos in the cup. The only player suspended for the Dogana clash will be Miori of Folgore – banned for two matches after being sent off last time out against the Academy.
The other 21:15 kick-off, between Tre Penne and Fiorentino, scheduled in Montecchio, is also an intriguing one. Tarini’s side appear to be favourites, coming into the game on the back of two consecutive wins and level on points with Virtus (14), while a mini‑crisis has opened up for Berardi’s Biancoazzurri who – in addition to five draws on the spin – have not won since 13 September. Fiorentino will, however, be without Boubacar Diop, suspended for one match.
The headline fixture between La Fiorita and Cosmos will instead be played on Saturday at 15:00 in Montecchio. The Serravalle side arrive as league leaders, boasting both the best attack and best defence, as well as the league’s top scorer Badalassi (6 goals). La Fiorita do not want to be outdone (still unbeaten along with Tre Penne); they come into the match off the back of two consecutive draws, but a win would see them draw level with their Gialloverdi rivals.
There are two other fixtures scheduled for Saturday at 15:00. At the "Crescentini" in Fiorentino, Murata v Tre Fiori also looks an attractive contest. The Bianconeri are sixth on 13 points despite suffering two defeats in their last three outings, while the Gialloblu – three points further back – are aiming to return to winning ways after two games without a victory.
In Acquaviva, meanwhile, Faetano and Libertas go head to head. Sperindio’s Granata are in good form and have not lost since the opening day, whereas this is certainly not the best spell for Ricchiuti’s Gialloblu, who have collected just three points from their last five matches.
Only one match is scheduled for 18:00 on Saturday, Pennarossa v San Giovanni. On paper, Tognacci’s Rossoneri are favourites, with three wins in their last four games and driven on by the excellent Augusto Garcia Rufer (five goals and two assists). Dolci’s Biancorossi, by contrast, are stuck on four points and will also have to do without Montalti, who is suspended. Robba, San Giovanni’s defender‑goal scorer, will also miss the game.
The eighth round of the league will then continue on Sunday 3 November with two matches at 15:00. Important points will be at stake when Juvenes‑Dogana face San Marino Academy Under 22, the only sides, along with Cailungo, who are still without a win in the competition. Fabbri’s team are third from bottom with just three points, while behind them are Cecchetti’s Titani on a single point. The match will be played in Fiorentino.
In Montecchio, meanwhile, Domagnano take on Cailungo. It is a difficult period for both sides, with the Giallorossi on six points and without a win since the opening day, while the Rossoverdi are bottom of the table, level with the Academy. In addition, coach Sarti will have to cope without three suspended players: Iuzzolino, De Biagi and Gimenez.
Below is the full fixture list for the eighth matchday of the Campionato Sammarinese, which kicks off tomorrow evening. As always, every match will be available live via streaming with full commentary on the Titani.tv platform:
