Championship: big wins for Folgore and Juvenes Dogana, narrow victory for Domagnano
The new 2026-27 Campionato Sammarinese season officially kicked off this evening. Four matches – all played at 21:15 – which on the opening day of the competition produced four wins for Folgore, Juvenes Dogana, Domagnano and Fiorentino.
It was all straightforward for Folgore under new head coach Michael Ricci, who in Acquaviva put five past Murata led by Paolo Tarini. The Falciano side flew out of the traps, scoring twice inside the first ten minutes: first through Pancotti, with a pinpoint left-footed strike after a set-play routine from a free kick with Ura, then the San Marino winger turned provider, whipping in a cross for Augusto Garcia Rufer, who rose highest and powered in a header for 2-0. It was almost too easy for Folgore, and shortly after the quarter-hour mark came a determined solo effort from Azael Garcia Rufer who, like his brother Augusto, added his name to the list of scorers on the night. After the break Ricci’s men further extended their lead. On 77 minutes Malaponti also joined the party – alert to tap home after Olivieri had initially denied Augusto Garcia Rufer – and in stoppage time there was room as well for former Cosmos player Pierri, who showed his technique in the box to sign off the final 5-0 scoreline.
The other Serravalle club in action this evening also celebrated with a comfortable win – even if it came late on. Juvenes Dogana ran out 4-0 winners over Faetano at the “Ezio Conti” in Dogana. The deadlock was broken just after the half-hour mark of the first half thanks to an unfortunate own goal by Tugliani, putting Camillini’s side in front. The contest, however, remained finely balanced almost until the 90th minute, when Juvenes Dogana cut loose in the closing stages. The star of the show was Amadori, who struck twice in the space of a minute: the first is already a candidate for goal of the week, a right-footed drive from a tight angle from distance that gave Venturini no chance, while the second was more straightforward as he turned home a Comuniello effort that Venturini had initially parried. The fourth goal, arriving in added time, was not bad either: Dormi supplied the assist for Comuniello, who finished with an elegant outside-of-the-foot strike to wrap up the match in Dogana.
A narrow win instead for Domagnano, who at Montecchio edged out a good Cailungo side. The game was unlocked after only five minutes. The lead went to the Giallorossi coached by Amati (serving a touchline ban today) thanks to two new signings: the move started from a throw-in, Scott Arlotti drove to the by-line and squared for Alex Ambrosini. Cailungo, however, refused to give in and on 26 minutes restored parity. A ricochet around the edge of the final third fell kindly for Persichilli, who picked up the ball, drove towards goal and beat Maggioli with a diagonal finish. Before the break, another big chance for the Giallorossi as Ambrosini met a cross with a powerful header, but Parisi produced a vital save to tip it away.
After the interval Domagnano moved back in front: on 55 minutes Ferraro’s cross into the area found a knock-down from Guglielmi for Giacomo Valentini – a new signing from Juvenes Dogana. The San Marino centre-back controlled well before drilling past Filippo Tordella. The match remained in the balance and on 81 minutes Cailungo had the chance to level. A handball in the area by Giacomo Valentini resulted in a penalty for Benedetti’s side. Initially Bernardi placed the ball on the spot, then it was handed to Bua. The number nine in red and green went for the right-hand corner, but Maggioli flung himself superbly to make a brilliant save. Cailungo’s late forcing was not enough and the victory went to Domagnano, who start their season with three points.
Fiorentino also won, albeit with a few scares along the way. At the “Crescentini” the Rossoblù under new coach Monaco got the better of Nicola Cancelli’s San Marino Academy, but there was plenty of regret for the Titani. The first warning sign came from the Academy, with Giacomo Grandoni clipping the post after eleven minutes. The game stayed level until the 40th minute, when Fiorentino went in front: a forward touch from captain Molinari turned into an assist as Azzurro took full advantage of the Titani’s poor defending and found a way past Cenci. The Academy, though, did not give up and at the start of the second half had a golden chance to equalise: a dangerous cross into the box from Nicola Molinari struck the outstretched arm of Fedi Ajmi. It was a penalty to the Titani. Molinari himself stepped up, but Benedettini guessed right and Fiorentino held on to their slender lead. The Academy continued to dictate the play and Cancelli’s boys were also unlucky when, on 52 minutes, Canarezza’s thunderous shot crashed against the crossbar for their second woodwork of the evening. Misfortune struck a third time in a night to forget for the Academy, as Renzi’s fine free-kick on 69 minutes also rattled the bar. Fiorentino soaked up the pressure and struck late on. A deflection off Forcellini fell kindly for substitute Pintore; the former Pennarossa man raced through on goal and beat Cenci to seal the 2-0 victory.
