League: Golinucci gifts Virtus the first league title in their history

Virtus are champions of San Marino for the first time in the club’s history. An extraordinary campaign for Luigi Bizzotto’s side, who had to rack up a stunning 79 points in 30 matchdays to claim the national title, courtesy of 26 wins, 1 draw and 3 defeats. Among those victories were both clashes with La Fiorita – outstanding opponents right up to the final moments of the regular season. The Gialloblù broke the deadlock early in their meeting with Cailungo, opening the scoring on 6 minutes with a corner-kick routine that freed up Ambrosini to fire in at the near post with his right foot. After the break, Jacopo Semprini wrapped it up with a solo effort, shortly after Cailungo – on their first real chance – had gone close to equalising with a Raschi free-kick. That meant only a Virtus win would be enough to secure the title: a draw against Tre Penne would have forced a championship play-off. The Neroverdi took the game to their opponents in the first half, testing Mattia Migani on several occasions – the goalkeeper producing a huge moment on 51 minutes when he saved a penalty from Ivan Buonocunto, sending a shiver through the large contingent of Neroverdi supporters at the Acquaviva Stadium. The outgoing champions Tre Penne also carved out three chances to take the lead, but Passaniti was equal to them all. Then, from a piece of individual brilliance by Alessandro Golinucci on 87 minutes, Virtus found the goal that opened the door to history. For the first time in 60 years of existence, the Acquaviva club have won the Campionato Sammarinese BKN301: the team led by president Giulianelli have thus also qualified for the next edition of the UEFA Champions League. At this moment, Golinucci and his team-mates hold all three major trophies in San Marino football. For La Fiorita, after a bitter finale, the door now opens to the play-offs and a fresh attempt to reach the UEFA Conference League qualifying rounds – a target the Gialloblù could also hit by winning the BKN301 Coppa Titano final, scheduled for next May. Their opponents there, needless to say, will be holders Virtus. On the other pitches, it was Cosmos who prevailed in the three-way battle for fourth place: the Gialloverdi, in action at the Ezio Conti in Dogana, broke the deadlock through Filippo Berardi on 35 minutes. In the final half-hour, the Serravalle club put the game to bed thanks to goals from Errico and Prandelli. Murata confirmed fifth place with a 3-0 win over Fiorentino: the first match since Angelini’s departure was decided by strikes from Ura, Echel and Giaretta. Finally, Domagnano avoided defeat thanks to a left-footed effort from Buda – deflected in by Aromatario. Early in the second half it was Tre Fiori who had taken the lead through the Socciarelli-Micchi combination, with the latter timing his run perfectly on the offside line before beating Batori. Tomorrow brings the final three games of the regular season, with only Juvenes-Dogana v San Giovanni carrying real weight in the standings. A win for the Rossoneri would guarantee Tognacci’s team seventh place and with it the chance to avoid the Preliminary Round, while the Serravalle club would only need a draw to defend that coveted position. Here is the partial schedule for Matchday 30 of the Campionato Sammarinese BKN301, live streamed with Italian commentary on TITANI.TV: *matches from the "Ezio Conti" Stadium in Dogana will not be live streamed due to ongoing renovation work at the venue
