League: Murata get the better of Cosmos, La Fiorita come back from two goals down

In the three early kick-offs of the second matchday of the Campionato Sammarinese, Tre Penne need only one half of football to wrap up their first win of the season. Berardi’s men break the deadlock against Faetano on 19 minutes through Dormi: the playmaker is quickest to pounce on Forconesi’s weak parry and fire home. Ten minutes later comes the second: a piece of magic from Guidi, who slaloms past everyone before cutting the ball back for the ever-present Dormi, who only has to tap in for his brace. The final seal on a perfect half is applied by Righini from the penalty spot, just as he did two weeks ago. Bertuccini’s clear foul on Ceccaroli allows the midfielder to make it three. In the second half Lisi fires twice without success, and after a fruitless burst forward by Scarponi, Tre Penne strike again: Dormi completes his hat-trick on 55 minutes, finishing into an empty net after yet another coast-to-coast run by Guidi for the definitive 4-0. The first half between Cosmos and Murata ends goalless, with the two sides essentially cancelling each other out. Echel and Fatica threaten early on, while Magnago fails to convert a chance akin to a penalty in open play on the quarter-hour that could have put the Bianconeri in front. A set piece by Pastorelli provides a late thrill for Lepri’s men, but the interval arrives with the score still level. It takes a single episode to break the deadlock, and unfortunately for Celato the Cosmos keeper’s responsibility is clear on Echel’s wide free-kick. His misjudged aerial outing allows Peters to nod in for the opening goal. The goal opens up the game and Cosmos come within centimetres of equalising as early as the 66th minute, when Loiodice manages to get an awkward shot away from the heart of the area: a strange trajectory that Benedettini just manages to tip with his fingertips onto the post. The rest is down to Badalassi, who for once is not clinical from close range. Late on Murata waste two chances to kill off the contest through Echel and Domingues, but still manage to see out a prestigious victory that keeps them top with a perfect record. It did not look like being La Fiorita’s luckiest evening, with several big chances spurned in the opening stages, yet they still managed to respond to an unexpected two-goal deficit. Gallinetta is helped out by his back line, while Olcese fires just wide of what would have been the opener. Midway through the half Cailungo take the lead through the Mezzadri-Lago combination. The former La Fiorita man scores from close range, making the most of his team-mate’s delivery from a dead ball. Ten minutes later comes the second, a moment of brilliance from Hirsch: a textbook counter-attack and lightning burst of pace before beating Vivan with a lofted effort on the run from 25 metres. Before the interval La Fiorita get back into it thanks to Cicarelli’s right-footed strike, decisively deflected by Conti in the first minute of added time. Seventy seconds into the second half are enough to level the score: Gasperoni, just on, whips in a perfect ball across the six-yard box where Ambrosini nips in ahead of Gimenez to make it 2-2. Around the hour mark La Fiorita complete the comeback. A powerful right-footed strike from the edge of the area by Semprini turns the game around, before Olcese even adds a fourth. Between those two chances, Cailungo hit the post through De Biagi, inches away from another equaliser. A fine reflex save by Gallinetta from Semprini limits the damage from Cailungo’s perspective, but they still go down 4-2.
