League: Play-off race heating up
Matchday 25 of the Campionato Sammarinese brings decisive clashes and results that could shape the race for the play-offs. With the final stretch of the regular season fast approaching, teams are focused on getting the most out of every outing, aware that a single game could have a major impact on the final standings.
Saturday’s action kicks off with Tre Fiori v Pennarossa at 15:00 at the Domagnano Stadium. The Gialloblu will be looking for consistency to stay among the main contenders this season. They have alternated excellent performances with more difficult spells, and this match will be a chance to show greater solidity. The Biancorossi, for their part, have only recently climbed off bottom spot and are clinging to their remaining hopes of reaching the play-offs.
At the same time, but at the Montecchio Stadium, Virtus will take on Cailungo. The league leaders, coming off 19 matches unbeaten, are aiming to extend their incredible run and tighten their grip on top spot. The Rossoverdi, meanwhile, need something special to overturn the odds and improve their league position. On paper the contest leans towards the Neroverdi, but Sarti’s men have already shown they can trouble more highly rated opponents.
The early fixtures continue with the 15:00 kick-off between San Giovanni and Cosmos at the “Federico Crescentini” Stadium in Fiorentino. The Rossoneri are enjoying a very good spell despite their most recent defeat, and will be looking to get back on track after their positive run of results. The Gialloverdi, on the other hand, want to stay in the upper reaches of the table and know that every point can make the difference in the fight for the play-offs. This match will also be available on FIFA+.
Also in action on Saturday afternoon, at 18:00, are Fiorentino and Libertas at the Dogana Stadium. Both sides come into this one in a long winless run and must halt their negative streak to regain confidence for the remainder of the campaign. The Rossoblu will be targeting victory to strengthen their position in the table ahead of the postseason, while the Granata need to pick up points to clinch a place in the preliminary round of the play-offs.
Exceptionally, this round of league fixtures will feature two 18:00 kick-offs. Besides Fiorentino v Libertas, the other will see Juvenes-Dogana face Faetano at the Montecchio Stadium. The Biancorossoblu have managed just one win in their last seven outings and will be looking to bounce back from this difficult period, while the Gialloblu need points to boost their chances of reaching the postseason.
Turning to Sunday’s programme, one of the three 15:00 fixtures is La Fiorita v Domagnano (at the Fiorentino Stadium). Ceci’s side are on an unstoppable march and intend to preserve their unbeaten record. The Wolves, on the other hand, will be chasing a major upset that would give Rossi’s men a huge confidence boost.
At the Domagnano Stadium, also at 15:00, San Marino Academy take on Murata. Both teams are struggling and desperately seeking three points to end a lengthy barren spell. The young Titani have not won for nine rounds, while the Bianconeri are on a run of four without victory. As such, this match represents an opportunity for both sides to rediscover belief and lift themselves up the table.
Rounding off Sunday’s schedule are Folgore and Tre Penne, kicking off at 15:00 in Montecchio. The Giallorossoneri want to hold on to third place, confirming themselves as one of the most solid teams of the season while keeping Tre Fiori at a safe distance; the Biancoazzurri, meanwhile, need all three points to move into the play-off places without having to go through the preliminary round – a goal that is currently anything but guaranteed.
