League, first win for Pennarossa as Murata draw level at the top

An error-strewn evening in Montecchio, where it is Murata who come away with the full spoils. Grassi’s side, without the suspended Petillo, first threaten midway through the half from a corner with Peters. Less than a minute later, their next attempt brings the opener: Lago loses the ball on the edge of his own penalty area and Del Vecchio’s tackle sets Milani free – who finishes from close range. Cailungo’s reply restores parity two minutes later: a mistake from Benedettini, first technical then physical, allows Ambrosetti to turn the ball into the net after Lago’s free-kick. On the play, the San Marino goalkeeper picks up an injury that forces him to throw in the towel and hand over goalkeeping duties to his compatriot Cervellini. Before the interval Murata try again, without obtaining the desired result. Early in the second half Cailungo are extremely dangerous through the Hirsch-Lago combination, only to concede Murata’s 2-1 on 63 minutes. Lucchesi has the right intuition to release Milani, who completes a superb brace that ultimately secures all three points. All this despite Cailungo’s spirited final onslaught, having gone down to ten men on 80 minutes due to Meluzzi’s DOGSO – stopping an obvious goalscoring opportunity and earning a straight red card. The Rossoverdi still go close to an equaliser through Gori, who forces a save from Cervellini after a fine transition by Costa. Deep into stoppage time Braga is careless and wastes a golden chance to put the result beyond doubt; nonetheless, the Bianconeri bank the win and – pending Sunday’s La Fiorita-Virtus fixture – draw level with the Gialloblù at the top of the table. In Acquaviva, Pennarossa show clear signs of progress, claiming a deserved victory over a Faetano side wasteful in front of goal. Famiglietti’s first effort is a clear statement of intent from the Biancorossi, who break the deadlock through Martini – on target following a corner. It is the defender’s second goal of the league campaign and, at that moment, he remains Pennarossa’s only scorer in the competition. In between, Capriotti hits the crossbar with an excellent twisting header. Faetano’s best chance, however, falls to the left foot of Brisigotti, who squanders a moving-ball penalty on 37 minutes. The forward, who had scored a brace in the previous meeting in the Coppa Titano, is unable to redeem himself in two close-range opportunities early in the second half. Thus, Pennarossa double their lead with a perfect counter-attack around the hour mark. Famiglietti’s dummy completely wrong-foots Ioli, who is caught from behind by Cobo – flawless with his left foot inside the far post. Faetano feel the blow and fail to create any real chances to get back into the game. Indeed, it is Salah who almost adds a third with a right-footed strike from distance that whistles just past the top corner. Pennarossa’s first win of the season is therefore sealed, lifting them to four points in the table. Here is the summary of the early fixtures on Matchday 6 of the 2024-25 Campionato Sammarinese.
