League kicks off! Immediate blockbuster Tre Penne-La Fiorita

Forty-eight hours after the Super Cup, which officially opened the 2024-25 San Marino football season, it is now time to lift the curtain on the Campionato Sammarinese as well. Tomorrow the league gets underway with the first matchday, spread over three days. There is great anticipation to see the new-look Cosmos in action, probably among the sides best equipped to fight for the title. The Serravalle club have changed coach, bringing in an experienced manager in Omar Lepri. In addition, an already competitive squad has been further strengthened in attack with last season’s top scorer Imre Badalassi and former La Fiorita forward Danilo Rinaldi. The Gialloverdi will take to the pitch in Domagnano tomorrow evening at 21:15 against Libertas. The Granata have confirmed Floriano Sperindio on the bench and will rely – among many others – on San Marino players Michael Battistini and the Tomassini brothers (David and Fabio Ramon). Also playing in the late slot are Folgore and Tre Fiori. The Falciano side are once again led this season by Oscar Lasagni and up front can count on new signing Raul Ura, formerly of Murata. There is, however, a change in the dugout for Tre Fiori, with former Faetano coach Danilo Girolomoni ready to take charge of the Fiorentino club. In attack, Girolomoni will also be able to rely on the goals and experience of Matteo Prandelli, who has left Cosmos. The match will be played in Acquaviva at 21:15. Fiorentino and Juvenes-Dogana, who also kick off at 21:15 but in Montecchio, both have new faces in the technical area. There is plenty of curiosity to see former Rimini boss Leo Acori, the new coach of the Rossoblu, making his debut on the Titan after many spells on Italian benches. By contrast, Achille Fabbri, the new coach of the Serravalle club, knows San Marino football very well, returning to lead a league side a couple of years on from his time at Murata. Domagnano and San Marino Academy Under 22, who will take to the field in Dogana tomorrow evening at 21:15, have instead confirmed their head coaches: Paolo Rossi stays in charge of the Giallorossi, while Matteo Cecchetti is once again at the helm of the young Titani. There are two fixtures scheduled for Saturday. Cailungo and Faetano meet in Fiorentino at 15:00 with an important change for the Gialloblu: following Girolomoni’s departure, the reins have been handed to Adrian Ricchiuti. The former Rimini striker knows San Marino football well, having played for both La Fiorita and Virtus, but this will be his first time on the bench of a club from the Titan. No changes instead for Cailungo, who have confirmed Roberto Sarti as coach of the Rossoverdi. Also playing on Saturday afternoon are Murata and Pennarossa. In the Bianconeri camp, Sergio Grassi has been confirmed as head coach after an excellent campaign last year, when his side reached the championship play-off final before falling at the last hurdle to Tre Penne. The Bianconeri, however, will have to do without two key players, Cicarelli and Affonso, who both joined La Fiorita in the summer. Filippo Dolci has also been confirmed at Pennarossa as head coach, as they look to bounce back from a difficult season. The first matchday of the league concludes on Sunday with two very intriguing encounters. Defending champions Virtus, fresh from winning the Super Cup, will be in action in Domagnano at 15:00 against San Giovanni. Last season Tognacci’s Rossoneri, who has been retained, were one of the surprise packages and now want to confirm their progress. Acquaviva’s side, still under the guidance of Gigi Bizzotto, will therefore need to be on their guard. At the same time but on a different pitch – Montecchio – the first big match of the season will take place. Tre Penne versus La Fiorita has been one of the classic fixtures of recent years, and there is no doubt that both teams are among the favourites for the title. There are plenty of storylines, starting with the dugouts occupied by two major former players: Stefano Ceci is the new coach of the Gialloblu from Montegiardino, while Nicola Berardi will lead the Biancoazzurri from Città. Over the summer, two other former Gialloblu, Tommaso Guidi and Armando Amati, also joined Tre Penne. Finally, here is the full schedule for Matchday 1 of the 2024-25 Campionato Sammarinese, which will be broadcast as always live via streaming with Italian commentary on TITANI.TV:
