League: Tre Penne and Virtus climb again, first win for San Giovanni
Three wins, all three by the same scoreline. On this afternoon of the third matchday of the Campionato Sammarinese 2026-27, both Tre Penne and Virtus win – against Cailungo and Libertas respectively – while San Giovanni celebrates for the first time, getting the better of Murata.
The most entertaining match is in Acquaviva between Virtus and Libertas. The first chance (21’) falls to the Granata with the ever-present Osayande (already two goals in the competition), who produces a lovely piece of close control before unleashing a dangerous left-footed effort, but Guddo responds superbly and denies Libertas the lead. Virtus reply with a good header from Blanco on a Buonocunto corner, the ball flying just over. A header is again Virtus’ preferred weapon to try to break the deadlock: cross from Piscitella from the by-line for Badalassi in a good position, but Foiera, at the second attempt, manages to claim the ball. Muratori’s side push and, before the interval, appeal twice for penalties in the box, but on both occasions referee Riccardo Mattu waves play on. The persistent pressure, however, pays off for Virtus, who manage to break the deadlock at the start of the second half: assist from Piscitella for the head of Badalassi, who signs his first goal in Neroverde colours.
Libertas’ reaction is not long in coming: a wide free-kick from Melandri turns into a shot that crashes spectacularly off the crossbar. Achille Fabbri’s team keep pushing and on 70 minutes they threaten again: Osayande works the ball in midfield and with an elegant outside-of-the-boot pass releases Melandri, who then fires on goal, but Guddo gets his gloves to it. Virtus know they need to kill the game off and on 73 minutes Lisanti feeds Badalassi in behind; he scores again but from an offside position. The match remains finely poised and Libertas go in search of an equaliser: a beautiful one-two between the usual Melandri and Osayande, with the latter shooting on goal, but Guddo is crucial for the Neroverdi today and shuts the door once more. The drama is not over, because on 82 minutes Gjoni wastes the chance to double Virtus’ lead, but it is only a matter of time. In the 85th minute, the 2-0 goal bears the signature of De Lucia, who settles it in the area with a delicate touch that finds the far corner. Libertas do not give up and try to get back into it through Osayande – their standout performer – who fails to make clean contact with a header from an excellent position. Victory therefore goes to Virtus, who move up to seven points in the table.
Tre Penne also win, claiming a third consecutive league victory (four in a row including the cup). Yet it is Benedetti’s Cailungo who start the brighter. On 8 minutes Bonini’s Biancoazzurri make life difficult for themselves with a defensive mix-up that could have proved costly, as Bernardi manages to square the ball with Andreani out of position, but Scarcella is alert and clears the danger. Cailungo keep pressing shortly afterwards with a fine long-range effort from Conti, which draws a confident save from Andreani. Tre Penne, however, begin to grow into the game and on the half-hour they manage to open the scoring: a corner is cleared by the Rossoverdi defence only as far as Ceccaroli, who brings it down from distance and unleashes a thunderous right-footed strike that proves unstoppable for Francioni.
The club from Città keep pushing and look for the goal that would settle them, which arrives shortly after the restart: a counter-attack driven by the pace of Kamouni, who spreads it to Scarcella; he plays it into the box for Carrer, who makes no mistake and doubles their lead. Cailungo refuse to throw in the towel, as shown by a determined move in the box from Bua, but once again Andreani comes up big with a superb reflex save. Tre Penne continue to threaten on the break and on 74 minutes Santi produces a vital intervention to prevent a third goal. Late on there are some doubts about a coming together in the area between Ceccaroli and Parisi, but Righi signals there is nothing in it and play continues. It matters little to Tre Penne, who win 2-0 and remain perfect alongside Tre Fiori – while waiting for Folgore, who play tomorrow.
First points and, above all, a first win of the season for San Giovanni in Montecchio against Murata. Tarini’s side start better and on 14 minutes immediately strike the post through Hassler. San Giovanni are not rattled and within a few minutes they score twice. On 23 minutes Chiaruzzi plays vertically for D’Angeli, who from the edge of the box pulls it back perfectly for Zanni, who finishes with a central but powerful right-footed shot. The Rossoneri double their lead just after the half-hour mark: corner from Rushani and a decisive touch from Spennato – his first goal in the league.
Murata’s response comes after the break: on 57 minutes a powerful effort from distance by Scarcella is met by a sharp save from Casadei between the posts. San Giovanni manage their two-goal advantage well and on 70 minutes could even extend it, but Gregori wastes a golden opportunity. In the closing stages there is another chance for San Giovanni, with D’Angeli setting up Gregori; Pasolini gets there first ahead of the Rossonero, but his intervention almost results in an own goal as the ball rebounds off the post and out. San Giovanni run out 2-0 winners, claiming their first victory of the season.
Tomorrow the action resumes with three more matches – all scheduled for 15:00 – which will complete the third matchday of the 2026-27 Campionato Sammarinese. Here is the current schedule:
