Čeferin confirmed as UEFA President, FSGC also present in Lisbon

The 47th Ordinary Congress, which confirmed Aleksander Čeferin as UEFA President, took place today in Lisbon. Čeferin was re-elected unanimously by acclamation and commented immediately after the verdict: "Protecting this game is our mission. Our purpose. Our very reason for being." The FSGC also took part in the proceedings, represented by President Tura, Vice President Grana and General Secretary Zafferani. Not only the presidential vote but also the elections for seven positions on the UEFA Executive Committee were at the centre of the Portuguese Congress. Those elected were Albanian Armand Duka, Dane Jesper Møller Christensen, Czech Petr Fousek, Georgian Levan Kobiashvili, Spaniard Luis Rubiales, Frenchman Philippe Diallo and Ukrainian Andrii Pavelko. The Annual Report for the 2021–22 season, the 2021–22 financial statements and the budget for the 2023–24 financial year were also approved. On the sidelines of the Congress, during the first meeting of the new Executive Committee, two UEFA Vice Presidents were appointed: Welsh official Laura McAllister and Italian Gabriele Gravina, who took over from Fernando Gomes (Portugal) and Sándor Csányi (Hungary). The next UEFA Ordinary Congress, the 48th, will take place on 8 February 2024 in Madrid.
