Coppa Titano BKN301, first legs of Round of 16: Virtus spring a surprise, Fiorita and Folgore through

The opening clashes in the 65th edition of the Coppa Titano BKN301 immediately delivered goals, drama and upsets. In Tuesday evening’s early kick-offs – the first legs of the Round of 16 – Virtus got the better of Cosmos. The Neroverdi from Acquaviva claimed a 1-0 win over the Gialloverdi of Serravalle thanks to a close-range finish from Ivan Buonocunto midway through the first half (22'), his first – and a crucial – goal of the season. There was also victory for Libertas, who beat Domagnano in Montecchio. The Granata, still unbeaten across league and cup, settled the tie after the break through an own goal by Michael Parma (50') and a late strike from Lorenzo Costa. It is another setback for Domagnano, with the Giallorossi still searching for their first win of the season. By contrast, Fiorita show no signs of slowing down: the Montegiardino side – boasting a 100% record in the league – are steamrolling their way through the cup as well, putting five past Fiorentino. Lasagni’s team, who are scoring freely and are yet to concede in either league or cup, broke the deadlock in the first half through Enrico Bartolini (18'), before doubling their lead shortly before half-time through Matteo Vitaioli (37'). After the restart the Gialloblu machine kept up the pace, adding three more goals: first Tommaso Zafferani (50'), then an inspired Vitaioli again (61') – opening his account for the season – and finally Samuel Pancotti’s strike (79') to round things off. Also kicking off at 20:45, this evening’s fixtures complete the first-leg programme in the Round of 16: Faetano vs Murata (to be played in Fiorentino), San Giovanni vs Folgore (Dogana), Tre Penne vs Pennarossa (Montecchio) and Juvenes-Dogana vs Cailungo (Acquaviva).
