Coppa Titano BKN301: it’s semi-final time

Midweek overtime for four of the top five sides in the Campionato Sammarinese, who are set for the first legs of the Coppa Titano BKN301 semi-finals. The reigning champions Virtus will have to try to book a return to the final without being able to count on their best player. Ivan Buonocunto will in fact be sidelined for around a month – a timeframe that could potentially see him back on the pitch just in time for the second leg against Tre Fiori, scheduled for 3 April in Montecchio. Tomorrow, Bizzotto and De Falco’s teams will instead cross swords at Acquaviva, with Marco Avoni to blow the first whistle at 20:45. The Neroverdi come into the tie on the back of a hard-fought win over Faetano (3-2) which kept them top of the table alongside La Fiorita. Tre Fiori, by contrast, are going through a more difficult spell, having slipped to fifth place and now closely followed by Murata after the defeat to San Marino Academy (1-3). Ciccione is suspended for the Gialloblù, while the absence of Rinaldi poses another headache for Virtus. Mazzotti and Niang will miss the eagerly awaited clash between La Fiorita and Tre Penne. Both suspended due to accumulation of yellow cards, they are significant absentees in the tactical set-up of Manfredini, coach of the Montegiardino club. On the Biancazzurri side there are no suspensions, although managing the eight players on a booking away from a ban will be crucial for Ceci over the two matches leading up to the final. Both sides recorded emphatic wins in their most recent official outing: La Fiorita’s was expected, in the top-versus-bottom meeting with Pennarossa (3-0), while Tre Penne’s 4-0 victory was an authoritative display against an in-form Fiorentino. In the only head-to-head so far this season, La Fiorita came from behind to win late on thanks to Fatica’s strike on 89 minutes. Mattia Andruccioli has been appointed to referee the semi-final, which will kick off at 20:45 in Montecchio.
