eEURO: San Marino finish the group ahead of Azerbaijan

No way through for Giuseppe Taddei, who represented the San Marino FA in the recent qualifiers for the eFootball European Championship, played on PlayStation 5 and FC 24. The Sammarinese gamer was drawn in a group with Azerbaijan, Greece, Spain, Croatia, Estonia and France. All ties were played over two legs (effectively home and away), with an overall aggregate score deciding the result. His debut was outstanding, as Taddei swept aside the Azerbaijani gamer with a resounding 17-2 aggregate win. Things unfortunately did not go as well in the remaining six fixtures. Matchday one ended with two expected defeats against Greece and Spain (10-3 and 9-3), both sides extremely well equipped to target qualification. The final match of the day was against Croatia, and it produced two very evenly balanced games. So much so that perfect parity reigned until the last 15 (virtual) minutes, before the balance tipped in favour of the Croatian gamer, who struck three times in succession to seal a 7-4 aggregate. The second day of matches proved very challenging, with hopes mainly pinned on the clash with Estonia – a recent friendly against them had suggested a promising level of parity. That, however, was not replicated in the first game last Sunday, which ended 10-2 in favour of the Baltic gamer. The group campaign closed against the very strong players of Serbia and France, who prevailed 14-2 and 16-5 respectively.
