Coaching: Academy staff learn from Josefa Idem
Last night at the Casa del Calcio in Montecchio a meeting was held, organised by the FSGC Coach Education Department and aimed at the youth-team coaches of the San Marino Academy. All coaches from the boys’ and girls’ sections – from Under 13 up to Primavera – were present for a two-hour session led by Josefa Idem, former Olympic canoeing champion and specialist in training and education matters for over fifteen years.
The theme of the evening was “Managing human resources”: every day coaches are called upon to manage players, technical staff, parents and many other people, seeking to value and involve them so that everyone can express themselves and make their own contribution. The Football Federation and the Federal Council are placing great emphasis on education and development, towards which everyone should be oriented. Above all, it is the coach who must become a point of reference for young players and the creator of the learning environment, which is fundamental for growth both in educational and sporting terms.
The initiative was introduced by Carlo Chiarabini, Head of the FSGC Coach Education Department, and Jessica Guidi, Federal Councillor of the Football Federation and Head of the youth sector.
Many different aspects were addressed and emerged from the shared discussion, which also made room for some enjoyable and inclusive team-building activities. Simplicity, suitable contexts and participation were the keys to a successful and well-received evening. Yesterday’s event with Josefa Idem is only a first step, with the intention of continuing on a path that can raise the standards of the coaches working in San Marino football and entrusted with educating the next generations of players.
