FSGC & BM1G: an unprecedented away trip to Gibraltar

Never before have so many travelled for an away match of the San Marino National Team. And we are not talking about players, staff and officials, but about the number of fans from the Brigata Mai 1 Gioia who will be backing the Titans from the stands of Gibraltar’s Europa Point Stadium tomorrow evening. As many as twenty-four supporters will make the trip to the Rock to watch the Biancazzurri’s second fixture in Group D2 of the UEFA Nations League – where they currently top the table thanks to their opening win over Liechtenstein. This remarkable turnout is not simply rooted in the recent victory at the San Marino Stadium: in fact, BM1G began organising this away trip long ago, with many fans – from San Marino, Italy, across Europe, South America and the Middle East – having planned holidays and taken leave from work to be there. A further feature of the collaboration with the FSGC is the presence of around a dozen fans on the charter flight that linked Forlì and Gibraltar this morning. The remaining members of the group will reach the venue for the match by their own means, underlining the deep bond between the team and its most passionate core of supporters. In addition, the FSGC Supporter Liaison Officer has coordinated the organisation of a seven-a-side friendly between fans of Gibraltar and San Marino, to be played this evening at one of the facilities serving the Victoria Stadium. The following day, a lunch is scheduled between the supporter groups of Team 54 and Brigata Mai 1 Gioia.
