Futsal, league: Folgore and Fiorentino chasing a clean sweep
Final matchday of 2022 in the San Marino Futsal Championship before play resumes in the new year. Folgore and Fiorentino are determined to keep up their perfect run in a league that currently sees them joint top on maximum points – 30 from 10 wins in 10 games. It seems unlikely that either side will drop points in their respective fixtures on Matchday 12.
Spada’s team take to the court on Tuesday evening (Fiorentino, 21:15) in the late kick-off against Faetano: just one win in the last five for the Gialloblù, who sit tenth in the group on ten points. Michelotti’s side, meanwhile, are in action tomorrow in Dogana (21:45) against San Giovanni: the Rossoneri also have only one win from their last five outings, with seven points in total that leave them in 13th place.
While the top two positions look fairly secure – Folgore and Fiorentino already boast a nine-point cushion over third place – there is a fierce battle just behind them, with five teams separated by only four points.
Arguably the most intriguing fixture is the clash between Tre Fiori and Juvenes-Dogana, scheduled in Fiorentino at 20:15. The Gialloblù saw their good run halted only by defeat to Folgore in the last round, yet still remain fourth; Zonzini’s side, on the other hand, are unbeaten in three and sit just a single point behind Tre Fiori.
Both Virtus and Domagnano will be looking to capitalise on this direct clash. The Neroverdi, third on 21 points and fresh from victory over Tre Penne, face Pennarossa tomorrow evening in Acquaviva (20:15). Despite their Matchday 10 defeat to Juvenes-Dogana, Pennarossa are in good form, having picked up 10 points from their last five games.
Mussoni’s Giallorossi, sixth on 18 points, are eager to return to winning ways after a month without a victory (4-1 against Cailungo was their last) and will try to do so tomorrow evening against Cosmos (Dogana, 20:15). The Gialloverdi are struggling, with three defeats in their last five and only eight points on the board. The leading pack is rounded off by La Fiorita, seventh on 17 points, who take on a Murata side in full emergency mode: the Gialloblù from Montegiardino have recorded three wins in their last five, while the Bianconeri have only defeats in that period and have not tasted victory since 31 October. There is also room on the card for the derby between Tre Penne and Libertas, scheduled tomorrow in Acquaviva (21:45). For the side from Città, on 12 points and five clear of their Granata rivals, there have been two defeats in the last five; for the team from Borgo, three losses on the bounce.
