Futsal, league: Tre Fiori a threat for Folgore
It will be a replay of the Super Cup that opened the 2022-23 Sammarinese futsal season. Tomorrow the league resumes with matchday eleven and all eyes will be on the blockbuster clash in Acquaviva (8:15 p.m.) between Folgore and Tre Fiori. In the match last September, Max Spada’s men were ruthless and lifted yet another trophy with a clear-cut 5-0. Folgore have not stopped winning and scoring since: the side from Falciano have only recorded victories this season between league and cup, boast the best attack (no fewer than 70 goals already scored) and have three players occupying the top three spots in the scoring charts (Massimiliano Bernardi leads the way with 20 goals). For their part, Tre Fiori are holding their own and sit third behind Folgore and Fiorentino. The Gialloblù are seven points off the summit and a potential win would blow the title race wide open. They are also in good form with five wins from their last six outings and qualification for the cup semi-finals.
Looking to capitalise on the big match will be Fiorentino, who face a Murata side in full-blown crisis. Michelotti’s team, boasting the best defence and the second-best attack, are matching Folgore’s pace with nine wins from nine and, as mentioned, top the table. It promises to be a very tough game for the Bianconeri, now second from bottom and coming off a heavy 10-0 defeat to Tre Penne.
An intriguing encounter is the one between Juvenes-Dogana and Domagnano. Zonzini’s side are fourth on 18 points, with Mussoni’s men just behind, one point adrift. A Folgore win could propel them into the battle for third place. The Giallorossi Wolves, however, are winless in their last two games, unlike Serravalle’s team, who come into this fixture off the back of two victories and with a place in the Titano Futsal Cup semi-finals secured. Between Juvenes-Dogana and Domagnano sit Virtus, also on 18 points. Virtus face Tre Penne, who have won four out of four in their last outings and currently occupy eighth place on 12 points. La Fiorita will also be looking to return to winning ways when they meet San Giovanni in the late kick-off (Thursday 15th at 9:15 p.m. in Acquaviva). Ghiotti’s side are coming off a defeat to Folgore and currently lie seventh on 14 points. The Rossoneri are joint second from bottom on seven points, but in the last round claimed a 3-1 victory over Faetano.
Matchday eleven also features Libertas-Cailungo and Cosmos-Pennarossa. Penserini’s Granata are eager to get back to winning ways after two rounds without a victory; there is news on the Rossoverde bench, with Michele Bollini taking charge of a team still searching for their first league win (ten defeats from ten games). The clash between Cosmos and Pennarossa looks finely balanced: the Gialloverdi, on eight points, are coming off a win over Cailungo; the Biancorossi, two points above them, are looking to bounce back from defeat to Juvenes-Dogana.
