Futsal: Folgore hit twelve as Fiorentino stay on track while Virtus lose ground
The all-conquering Folgore put on a show in Acquaviva, overwhelming San Giovanni 12-2. Captain Bernardi helped himself to four goals, with multiple strikes also for Pellegrini (hat-trick), Chezzi and Geri (braces). Giardi also found the net to make it 4-1 at half-time. Andrea Zonzini scored the only open-play goal for San Giovanni, who also benefited from a De Angelis own goal on 59 minutes – when the game’s outcome had long since been decided. Fiorentino also remain perfect, scoring twice in each half against Tre Penne. Busignani’s brace set the scoreline at the break, while in the second half Ercolani – from the spot – and Moretti padded the tally.
Virtus, coached by Pollini, hold on to third place but slip two points further back from the leading duo. That is the consequence of their draw with Domagnano in the opening fixture in Dogana. It was a thrilling contest, with most of the regrets on the Mussoni side: his team went ahead early through Cavalli, only to find themselves trailing at the interval after goals from Paolo and Angelo Casadei. The Wolves’ reaction was fierce, as they turned it around through Gracik and Bollini. When it seemed the hard work was done, Paolo Casadei struck again past Bugli for the final 3-3 less than two hundred seconds from the final whistle. The chance to leapfrog their rivals slipped away from Domagnano, who are caught in fourth place by Tre Fiori.
The Fiorentino-based club gave Cosmos no chance. A yellow-and-blue manita, opened by Cecchini on the quarter-hour mark. Shortly before the break, Zanotti also got on the scoresheet. In the second half came three further goals, all for Tre Fiori in the closing minutes: Boschi, Verri and Ferrenti sealed the 5-0 win for Bugli’s side. There was no contest either in the meeting between Cailungo and Faetano, which had Omar El Attar as the standout performer of the evening: five goals for Corbelli’s forward, following on from strikes by Bacciocchi and a Sabatino own goal, to complete the 7-0 scoreline.
Finally, Pennarossa recorded a second consecutive victory, defeating Murata 5-2. It was a night of braces for Putti and Poggiali, who added to Podeschi’s early opener to complete the five-goal haul for the Biancorossi. On the Murata side, Achille Della Valle also scored twice: his first, to make it 1-2, seemed to have reopened the contest, while his second merely set the final score in Acquaviva. On Thursday it will be the turn of Juvenes-Dogana and Libertas, in the late fixture in Fiorentino (kick-off 21:15).
