Futsal: El Attar inspires Faetano to victory over Folgore
A precious victory for Faetano, who in the first late fixture of Matchday 22 of the Campionato Sammarinese di futsal see off Folgore at the end of a clash that produced no fewer than twelve goals, five of which were scored by Omar El Attar.
The star of the show on the Acquaviva court, the yellow-and-blue pivot broke the deadlock with a powerful left-footed strike from distance, before a free-kick from Giacomo Bacciocchi doubled the lead. Folgore tried to shake themselves awake with a neat move finished off by Casali to make it 2-1. However, El Attar’s magical evening continued with two more goals in quick succession: first he used his strength to spin away from Alan Bacciocchi, then he won the ball off Mularoni, went through on goal and made it 4-1 to Faetano. The match seemed firmly in their hands, despite Alan Bacciocchi’s close-range touch on 25 minutes.
The 4-2 half-time scoreline lasted barely five minutes: that was all El Attar needed to find Folgore’s net again with a wonderful left-footed turn and shot. It was a cursed night for the club from Falciano, who had earlier squandered a gilt‑edged chance with Toccaceli to get back into the game, only to then suffer an own goal from Alan Bacciocchi. Zonzini’s side tried to climb back with goals from Muccioli and Bacciocchi himself, but Faetano’s victory was never really in doubt. Once again it was El Attar who definitively tipped the balance Faetano’s way, completing his personal five-goal haul on 56 minutes and putting Folgore away. The Giallorossoneri’s hopes were further damaged by two red cards shown three minutes earlier to Mularoni and Alan Bacciocchi – even though they were not on the pitch at the time – for dissent. In the closing stages there was also a thunderous strike from captain Casali who, directly from a kick‑in, set the final score at 7-5.
Three hugely important points for Faetano, who return to winning ways almost two months after their last success. The Gialloblù will still need a sporting miracle to claw back, in just eight matchdays, the deficit to Cailungo, who enjoy a five-point lead in the table and also hold the upper hand in the head-to-head record.
Matchday 22 of the Campionato Sammarinese will be completed this evening with the late fixture at the Multieventi between Domagnano and Murata. The Bianconeri start as favourites, boasting both the best attack and the best defence in the league, and can also rely on a squad well-suited to playing on indoor surfaces. The Wolves, who did not win a single game in the first half of the season against teams above them in the table, will be eager to avenge the heavy defeat suffered on Matchday 7 and to launch a season finale that will also pit them against Pennarossa, La Fiorita, Virtus and Tre Penne – a real taste of the postseason.
