Futsal, Folgore and Fiorentino aim to pull away at the top
Folgore and Fiorentino continue their perfect run, the chasing pack are trying to keep pace, and a clear gap is already starting to open up in mid-table. This is the current picture in the San Marino Futsal Championship, which resumes tomorrow with Matchday 9. Leading the group are Max Spada’s yellow-and-red side and Michelotti’s red-and-blues, both on maximum points thanks to eight wins from eight and both coming off yet another victory in this week’s Titano Futsal Cup. Folgore, boasting the league’s best attack, will take on San Giovanni: all the pre-match predictions favour the Falciano side over Gualtieri’s team, who are currently second from bottom with just four points and without a win in four rounds.
It is a different story for Fiorentino who, despite having the second-best attack and the best defence in the league, face Tre Penne. The side from Città are in excellent form and come into the game on the back of three straight wins. Another victory would take them into double figures and could propel them into the upper reaches of the table.
Looking not to lose ground and to keep the two joint leaders within sight are Virtus and Domagnano, who meet tomorrow evening in Dogana at 20:15. The neroverdi are in good form, with two wins in their last three outings, and are currently alone in third place, four points off the top. In midweek, however, they suffered a narrow defeat in the cup quarter-finals against Virtus. Domagnano, after four consecutive victories, had to give way – albeit by a tight margin – in the last round against Fiorentino, but remain close to the summit (Mussoni’s side sit fourth on their own on 16 points).
Also in the upper part of the table are Tre Fiori, who return to action against Cosmos after their rest day in the previous round. The gialloblu are currently on 14 points, level with La Fiorita, who in turn will sit out this round. For Alex Bugli’s team the opponents are Cosmos, third from bottom and coming off defeat to Tre Penne in the last match.
Mid-table also features Juvenes-Dogana. Zonzini’s side are seventh and, after their midweek Cup success, they are looking to bounce back in the league as well following their derby defeat to Folgore in Serravalle. They will try to do so in the match against Libertas, scheduled for Thursday 1 December in Fiorentino at 21:15. The granata lost in the Cup but are unbeaten in their last two league fixtures (most recently a 4-2 win over Murata).
Also on the schedule tomorrow evening, both at 21:45, are the clashes Murata-Pennarossa and Cailungo-Faetano. In the first, to be played in Acquaviva, Chiesanuova’s team are certainly in better shape: they have not lost in two games and are looking to pull away from the bianconeri in the standings. Both sides are level on seven points, but Murata are coming off three defeats in a row. Also on seven points are Faetano, who as mentioned will face Cailungo in Dogana. Both teams are in desperate need of points to turn around their form: on one side the gialloblu are on a run of five consecutive defeats, while the rossoverdi have lost all eight of their matches so far.
