Futsal: Folgore-La Fiorita a turning point in the battle for second place

On the schedule for the 23rd matchday of the Campionato Sammarinese di futsal, the standout fixture is the first clash in Fiorentino, featuring Folgore and La Fiorita. Currently second and third in the standings, they are separated by five points. A win for the Falciano club would all but secure their place directly behind Fiorentino. La Fiorita, on the other hand, have Tre Fiori and Murata breathing down their necks and ready to overtake them. Finishing second or third is far from a trivial objective, as it would avoid a meeting with Fiorentino in the play-offs. Tre Fiori and Murata are fully aware of this as well. They will take to the court – with the odds in their favour – to face Cailungo and San Giovanni. The Fiorentino-based side will be in action tomorrow in Dogana at 21:45, while Cellarosi’s Bianconeri are scheduled for Wednesday evening in the late kick-off at the Multieventi. They both enjoy a sizeable cushion over Virtus, who sit sixth and will observe their rest round. Bugli’s Gialloblù, among the teams still in the hunt for the runners-up spot, are the only ones with a game in hand on their rivals. Tre Penne and Domagnano are duelling from a distance for mid-table positions. Separated by two points, they will take on Pennarossa and Faetano. The task looks tougher for the side from Città, who have picked up three wins from their last five outings. Casadei’s Biancorossi, meanwhile, returned to winning ways against Cailungo in the previous round. As for Domagnano, they have not collected all three points since 29 January, when the Wolves swept aside San Giovanni. A meeting with one of the teams at the bottom of the table presents a major opportunity to get back to winning ways. A result that would also bring Gasperoni’s men closer to Juvenes-Dogana, who are about to face the juggernaut Fiorentino. Unbeaten in the league, with nineteen wins and one draw, the reigning champions have no intention of slowing down in the first match of tomorrow night’s programme in Dogana. Finally, looking towards the lower edge of the play-off zone, it is Cosmos who currently occupy the last spot granting access: three points ahead of Cailungo, picking up something in the clash with Libertas could prove crucial for Muccioli’s men.
