Futsal, the league discovers the Multieventi: historic first time for Fiorentino-Cailungo

For the first time, the doors of the Multieventi open to the San Marino Futsal Championship. The match between Fiorentino and Cailungo, a rearranged fixture from matchday sixteen, will be played on the court of a venue that until now had only hosted San Marino national teams in the small-sided game. The top versus bottom clash between Michelotti’s and Bollini’s sides will close the upcoming round, which has been partially reshaped due to the Fiorentino venue being unplayable. The two matches originally scheduled there have been moved to Acquaviva on Tuesday evening. Four matches are scheduled for tomorrow night, with Virtus-Libertas and San Giovanni-Murata getting proceedings under way at 20:15. Pollini’s Neroverdi will try to put pressure on Tre Fiori and La Fiorita, who face each other in a direct showdown in the later kick-off. The clash with Libertas, coming off two wins in their last four outings, will be played in Dogana. Should the Acquaviva club win, they would move temporarily up to fourth place. For Libertas, the aim is to extend the gap from third from bottom which – in the futsal league – means missing out on the post-season. Penserini’s men currently enjoy a five-point cushion over the Cosmos-Murata duo. At the same time the Bianconeri coached by Cellarosi will face San Giovanni in Acquaviva. The former coach of the opposition halted the run of defeats thanks to the 3-3 draw with Cailungo. After their rest round, Murata resume with a direct clash for a play-off spot. San Giovanni, two points ahead, have the opposite target – namely to increase their safety margin. All the more so because it will be difficult for Cosmos and Cailungo to improve their positions in the table, as they take on powerhouses Folgore and Fiorentino respectively. The reigning champions will play the derby tomorrow night in Dogana, in the late slot. At the same time (21:45), but in Acquaviva, Faetano and Pennarossa will also be in action. The Gialloblù will be without suspended first-choice goalkeeper Amati, a key man for Corbelli’s side. Casadei’s men, meanwhile, want to pick up where they left off before the 3-0 defeat to La Fiorita, chasing what would be a fourth win in their last five games. Moved to Acquaviva on Tuesday evening are Domagnano-Tre Penne and La Fiorita-Tre Fiori. Mussoni’s and Galli’s teams will kick off at 20:15. The Lupi can boast twice as many points in the standings as the club from Città, who returned to competition this season after a year’s sabbatical. It is a match Domagnano cannot and do not want to get wrong, as they look – like the other chasers – to capitalise on the direct clash between La Fiorita and Tre Fiori. In addition, the Giallorossi will also be on the court on 2 February in Dogana (21:15) for the rearranged matchday fifteen fixture against Pennarossa. In short, a decisive week in which Domagnano could move close to third place. The most intriguing tie is certainly the second match rescheduled for Tuesday evening in Acquaviva, which will pit the current third- and fourth-placed sides against each other. Tre Fiori-La Fiorita, as well as bringing together last season’s beaten finalists, could allow Ghiotti’s men to draw level in third. Alternatively, Tre Fiori could pull away and start to think about closing the gap in the medium term on Folgore and Fiorentino – provided they do not slip up at all in the second half of the season. Here is the schedule for matchday 16 of the league:
