Futsal: Folgore draw level with Fiorentino, cup Round of 16 second legs tomorrow

Fiorentino lay down the marker, Folgore hit back. The two big favourites for the current season continue side by side, with five wins from five games, further stoking the anticipation for the head‑to‑head clash scheduled for the third‑from‑last matchday. That, however, is a topic for 2023, when – perhaps – the current duopoly will be broken. On court last night for the late fixture of Matchday 5, the reigning champions swept aside Virtus – on the synthetic pitch in Acquaviva – scoring five times in a quarter of an hour before adding further gloss after the break. In the final 8-1 scoreline there was a consolation goal from Pazzaglia on 35 minutes, by which time Folgore had already completed their five‑goal haul. Seven different scorers for Spada’s goal‑happy side: in the first half Pasqualini, Giardi, Bernardi, De Angelis and Pellegrini all found the net. After the restart came a brace from Chezzi and a strike from Ercolani. The Falciano club draw level with Fiorentino on 15 points in the table. Here is the full Matchday 5 picture, including last night’s late fixture: Virtus will be back in action on Friday evening needing to overturn the 2-0 defeat suffered against Faetano in the Titano Futsal Cup Round of 16. From this tie (Dogana, 21:15), the last team to reach the quarter‑finals will emerge, with the other six pairings (Folgore are already through by default as holders) to be decided tomorrow night. At Acquaviva the schedule features Libertas-Cosmos (20:15) and Murata-Tre Fiori (21:45). Both ties start with a clear favourite: the Granata are determined not to waste the 5-1 first‑leg win, while Tre Fiori will likewise look to build on their 3-0 victory over the Città club on 13 October. On the synthetic surface in Dogana the fixtures will instead be Fiorentino-San Giovanni (20:15) and Tre Penne-Cailungo (21:45). Busignani and his team‑mates already have one foot in the next round after their 6-0 first‑leg success. Everything is still to play for, however, in the late game, which restarts from 2-2. Finally, in Fiorentino, an intriguing clash between Domagnano and Juvenes-Dogana will open the evening (20:15). Claudio Zonzini’s side hold a significant advantage after their 2-0 first‑leg win, but Domagnano will look to challenge that right up to the last of the sixty minutes of regulation time. If that is enough. Indeed, in the event of absolute parity between goals scored and conceded over the two legs, the tie will go to two extra‑time periods of five minutes each and, if needed, penalties. An outcome that cannot be ruled out for the 21:45 tie either, between La Fiorita and Pennarossa, which resumes from the 4-3 victory earned by the Biancorossi twenty days ago.
