Futsal: Libertas return to face La Fiorita, Domagnano hunting for their first points

La Fiorita, Pennarossa and Murata are setting the pace, with all the others in pursuit. That is the simplest way to sum up the situation after two matchdays of the futsal league. The sides coached by Pietrangeli, Monesi and Screti are the only ones to have recorded two wins from two and can therefore look down on the rest of the pack from a privileged position. But they are not the only ones with a 100% record. Joining them are Libertas, who won the only match they have played so far and now return to action after their bye week. On Monday they will face one of the top teams in the league, La Fiorita, in what is arguably the most intriguing fixture of the entire round, as well as the first game scheduled in Fiorentino. The second will be a private affair between Virtus and Cailungo, two sides level on one point and coming off perfectly mirrored paths. Virtus began with a draw before tasting defeat for the first time – against Murata. Cailungo, for their part, got off to a bad start (1-5 against Libertas) but then got off the mark by drawing with Juvenes Dogana, albeit after letting a temporary lead slip. One point is also the current tally of Tre Fiori, which is still more than that of Domagnano, Bugli’s next opponents. The Wolves have lost two out of two: in their opener against Pennarossa and most recently against Fiorentino. Wiping out that zero in the table is becoming an urgent necessity for Gasperoni’s side, currently bottom of the standings alongside San Giovanni and Tre Penne. The latter will be on the green in Domagnano straight after the clash between Tre Fiori and Domagnano. The redemption mission for Muccioli’s men will require one of the toughest tests of all, because standing in the Biancoazzurri’s way will be Pennarossa who, as mentioned, come into the match with two wins from two and can only have their sights firmly trained on a third. The final fixture of Monday’s programme will be the indoor showdown between Fiorentino and Murata. Both sides can ride a wave of positive feeling, but Fiorentino – fresh from a narrow win over Domagnano – will have to cope with a major absence in goalkeeper Michelotti, suspended for three matches by the Sports Judge. There are no bans for the Bianconeri, who are firmly targeting a third win from three. The Multieventi Arena court will host this encounter between two unbeaten sides so far, separated by just two points. The margin is even slimmer between San Giovanni and Juvenes Dogana, with the Rossoneri still on zero (but with a game in hand) and the Biancorossoazzurri having picked up a point in their most recent outing, against Cailungo. The two teams will meet on Tuesday at the Acquaviva sports hall in the first of two third-round fixtures moved to a later date. For Juvenes Dogana, Claudio Righi will be absent through suspension. The match that will close the round will be played on Thursday, again at the Acquaviva sports hall. Cosmos, coming off a win and a draw, will look for further consistency against a Faetano side halted by La Fiorita but who are breathing right down their necks, just a single point behind. Faetano will also be playing with the aim of pulling clear of Folgore, who are level on points with Selva’s team but idle this week due to their bye.
