Futsal, the entire third matchday to be played on Monday
There will be no late fixtures on the third matchday of the 2023-24 Campionato Sammarinese di futsal, which will be played in full next Monday, 16 October. Of the seven scheduled games (Tre Fiori will observe their rest round), the only one to be played at the Multieventi Sport Domus will be the clash between San Giovanni and Cailungo, kicking off at 21:45. At least one of them will finally get off the mark, as both sides currently have two defeats from as many outings this season. Needless to say, both will be targeting their first win of the year.
Among the matches kicking off at 20:15, Virtus vs Domagnano is undoubtedly the one that stands out. Both are tipped to play the role of outsiders in the league, not least on the strength of the results achieved in recent seasons, and they will face off on the artificial surface in Dogana. With three points each from two official games, they will be battling for important points in view of a play-off race that, in a few months’ time, could also hinge on their head-to-head record. A situation shared by Virtus and Domagnano and also by La Fiorita, who lost on the opening day but claimed victory a week ago. Monday’s match against Pennarossa, on the artificial pitch in Domagnano, is clearly within reach for the Gialloblù. The Chiesanuova club, just like their upcoming opponents, have three points on the board and intend to be ready for the test against the Montegiardino side – twice finalists in the last three years.
Winning is the objective for Murata, who remain on maximum points so far along with Fiorentino, Folgore, Tre Fiori and Juvenes-Dogana (the latter have already had their rest round). The Bianconeri, significantly strengthened compared to last season, take on Faetano. The odds are clearly in favour of Cellarosi’s team, but Faetano are keen to shake off the cobwebs of a decidedly underwhelming start to the season. Kick-off is at 20:15 in Fiorentino. On the same pitch, Juvenes-Dogana and Tre Penne will follow. Levani’s men made their debut last week with a win over Cailungo, although that game did expose some defensive rust. A flaw shared so far by Tre Penne, who have conceded thirteen goals in their first two outings without picking up a single point.
Also at 21:45 but in Domagnano, Libertas vs Fiorentino will take place. On paper the outcome looks straightforward, but the Granata were able to exploit their rest round on the second matchday to prepare for this clash with the reigning champions over a two-week period. The defeat suffered on their debut is something they are eager to put right with a strong performance in one of the toughest games of the year for the Borgo Maggiore club. Busignani and his team-mates, as you would expect, will be looking to stay top of the table with a perfect record. That is also the outcome Folgore will be aiming for, as they face the Serravalle derby against Cosmos. The match is scheduled in Dogana at 21:45. The Gialloverdi are a solid and well-organised side, with one win and one defeat so far this season. For Claudio Zonzini’s team – who began their tenure on the Folgore bench by winning the San Marino Super Cup against Fiorentino – it is another test of their credentials ahead of the fifth matchday big match, once again against the Rossoblù.
