Futsal: Big wins in matchday nine, Virtus miss out
In the first match played on the Domagnano artificial pitch, Folgore faced Faetano, with the former handing a resounding 12-0 defeat to Gualtieri’s side. The team from the Castle of Serravalle effectively wrapped things up already in the first half, putting 10 goals past their opponents. Four players struck a brace for the Giallorossoneri: in order, Giardi, Chezzi, Ercolani and Morri. The scoreline was further padded out by individual goals from Bernardi, Pasqualini, Pellegrini and Tassitano. Zonzini’s men thus bounce back from the defeat against La Fiorita in the previous round, and this victory allows them both to consolidate fourth place and keep pace with the top three. On the other side, the Gialloblù suffer a third straight defeat and remain third from bottom, level on points with Cosmos and Libertas, with the latter still to play their ninth-round fixture.
At the same time in Fiorentino, the match between Domagnano and Pennarossa saw the Wolves hand out a heavy manita to the team from the Castle of Chiesanuova. The first half ended level at 1-1: it was the Biancorossi who took the lead on 2 minutes through Ciacci; an immediate reaction from Gasperoni’s players saw them equalise a minute later thanks to Menghi. The second half was one-way traffic in favour of the Giallorossi, who made it 2-1 on 40 minutes with a second goal from Menghi and 3-1 four minutes later, this time through Vagnini. In stoppage time, Domagnano recorded the final two strikes through, in order, Capone and Davide Dolcini. This fourth win in a row allows the Wolves to draw level with Murata in fifth place. It is, instead, a second straight defeat for Casadei’s men, which sends them down to tenth.
The evening’s action in Dogana kicked off with Cosmos vs Tre Fiori. The team from the Castle of Fiorentino recorded a five-goal haul against the Gialloverdi. As in Domagnano vs Pennarossa, the first half was balanced, but unlike that match it finished 1-0 to Bugli’s side, thanks to a 12th-minute strike from Casadei. The second half saw uncontested dominance from Tre Fiori, who killed off the contest in less than 10 minutes through goals from Morini on 31 minutes and Burioni on 37. To round off the 5-0, Crescentini scored on 46 minutes and Esposito on 52. The side from the Castle of Fiorentino thus record a fifth consecutive victory; in this run, the Gialloblù have scored a total of 35 goals, a sequence that keeps them alone in third place, three points behind joint leaders Fiorentino and La Fiorita. Muccioli’s men fall to a second loss in a row and remain second from bottom alongside Libertas and Faetano.
A flood of goals in Domagnano also marked the second match of the evening, a kind of bottom vs top clash between Cailungo and Fiorentino. As expected, the league leaders prevailed with a comprehensive 14-0 win. The star performer was Busignani, who hit six goals to move top of the scoring charts with 16 in total. Excellent displays too from Zafferani and Cevoli, who each registered a hat-trick. Also on the scoresheet were goals from Maiani and Stacchini. The Rossoblù remain top with a 100% record, eight wins from eight. On the other side, it is a seventh defeat in eight games for Venerucci’s team, who stay bottom of the table on 3 points together with San Giovanni.
In Dogana, after Cosmos vs Tre Fiori, it was time for Tre Penne vs Virtus. As could easily have been predicted, it proved to be the only closely fought match of this round so far. The first half was all about the Neroverdi, who went in 2-0 up thanks to goals from Carlini on 6 minutes and Paolini on 26. There was a reaction from the side from the Castle of San Marino Città at the start of the second half, when they pulled one back on 34 minutes through Francesconi. An immediate response from Pollini’s men saw them restore a two-goal cushion three minutes later, with Sensoli making it 3-1. It seemed over, but on 56 minutes Contato reduced the arrears for the Biancazzurri; his goal, however, was not enough to avoid defeat. This was an important victory, after two losses, for the team from the Castle of Acquaviva, who in doing so pull away from their opponents on the night and join Murata in fifth place on 15 points.
The evening on the Fiorentino artificial pitch was rounded off by San Giovanni vs La Fiorita, the second bottom vs top clash of the day. This too was an one-sided encounter, ending 11-0 to the Gialloblù. The main credit goes to a devastating Bernardi, who wrote his name on the scoresheet with seven goals, outdoing even Busignani’s display against Cailungo. Thanks to these exploits, he moves up to second place in the scoring charts with 15 goals in 9 matches. The other four goals were scored by Belloni, Baldelli, Bartoli and Gasperoni. As a result, nothing changes in the standings: Galli’s side remain joint top with Fiorentino (albeit having played one more game than the Rossoblù), thanks to an eighth win in a row. The Rossoblù, meanwhile, suffer a second consecutive defeat – conceding 23 goals in this run – and stay bottom of the table alongside Cailungo.
Matchday nine will conclude tomorrow evening at 21:45 at the Multieventi, where Juvenes-Dogana and Libertas will battle for the points in what will be the only indoor fixture of this round.
These are the results from the ninth matchday of the 2023-24 Campionato Sammarinese di futsal, pending the late fixture:
