Futsal: Pennarossa idle, all eyes on La Fiorita in the race for second place

With only three matchdays remaining in the regular season, the San Marino Futsal Championship is gearing up for an emotionally charged start to the week. From the title race to the battle for the play-offs, every game in Matchday 28 could prove decisive.

On Monday at 20:15, Cailungo v Tre Fiori will be played in Fiorentino. The Rossoverdi, coming off five straight defeats, need to get back on the board and rediscover a win that has been missing for a month and a half. On the other side, the Gialloblu, on an upward trend after a stop-start period, must consolidate their play-off spot.

At the same time, but in Dogana, the derby between Cosmos and Juvenes-Dogana will take centre stage. The Gialloverdi are aiming to hold on to their precious seventh place with a view to the post-season, while the Biancorossoblu, on a run of three consecutive defeats, must react to avoid putting their league position at risk. This match promises to be particularly intriguing after the 4-4 draw in the reverse fixture.

In Domagnano, meanwhile, at 21:15 Domagnano and Faetano will face off. The Giallorossi want to make amends for the goal conceded in the closing minutes against La Fiorita and keep hold of sixth place, which would be enough for the play-offs. The Gialloblu, for their part, have managed just one win in their last five outings and must chase all three points to try to overhaul Cailungo and snatch the last spot available for the post-season.

Also on Monday, three matches will kick off simultaneously at 21:45. Tre Penne and Murata will take to the court in Fiorentino. The Biancoazzurri, fresh from a resounding 9-0 victory over Libertas, need to push for another win, aware that they can move one point above Virtus, who face La Fiorita, and in doing so clinch the final berth for direct access to the play-offs. Standing in their way, however, are the Bianconeri, top of the table, still unbeaten this season and held only once, by second-placed Pennarossa.

In Dogana, Folgore and Fiorentino will square off. The Giallorossoneri, who in the last round finally found a win after a two-and-a-half-month drought, want to keep picking up points to pull away from Cailungo and cement their play-off spot. The Rossoblu, meanwhile, just one point behind Tre Fiori, can overtake them and relaunch their campaign after back-to-back defeats in the previous two rounds.

Finally, Virtus and La Fiorita will meet at the Multieventi. It’s a head-to-head clash between fourth and third, separated by just six points. The Neroverdi must win to close the gap on the Gialloblu, but above all to hold off Tre Penne and, in these final matchdays, try to definitively secure the last place for direct access to the play-offs. Traviglia’s men, on the other hand, can still set their sights even on second place, taking advantage of Pennarossa’s rest week.

The only Sunday fixture, and the last of the matchday, will be San Giovanni v Libertas at 21:45 in the Acquaviva sports hall. It is the last call for San Giovanni, who after the clash with Tre Fiori are under pressure to win in order to pull away from bottom side Libertas. The Rossoneri must try to bounce back from a difficult spell and get points on the board. On the other side, the Granata, rooted to the bottom of the table, have recorded just one win this season, precisely in the reverse fixture against Franchino’s side, and have every chance of repeating the success achieved in the first half of the campaign.

Second in the table on 68 points, Pennarossa have a bye this round and will be hoping for a slip-up from La Fiorita, who sit just seven points back. The Biancorossi will return to the court on Matchday 29 against Cosmos, aiming to put the finishing touches on an excellent season.
