Futsal: Thrilling late fixture, Juvenes-Dogana win 4-3

Last night at the Multieventi Sport Domus, in the only indoor match of the ninth round of the futsal league, the rescheduled Juvenes-Dogana v Libertas fixture took centre stage. A match packed with goals and constant end-to-end action between the two sides, but in the end it was Levani’s men who edged it. The Biancorossazzurri were the ones to start brighter, finding the breakthrough in the 5th minute: Cavalli slid in to score with the tip of his foot. Penserini’s men replied immediately, levelling ten minutes later through Mazza: his first effort was blocked by an opponent, but the maroon forward managed to force the ball over the line at the second attempt. The team from the Castle of Serravalle were not content with the draw and went back in front on 27 minutes with a right-footed strike from the edge of the area by Gatti. The Granata are a side that leave nothing to chance and found parity for the second time on the night in first-half stoppage time – specifically on 30'+2' – thanks to a brace from Mazza, who scored from close range. At the start of the second half, in the 31st minute, the Borgo Maggiore side, riding the wave of enthusiasm, found the goal to make it 3-2 through Bacciocchi: he won the ball back himself, led the counter-attack and then finished past the goalkeeper. Juvenes-Dogana were determined to set things straight and turned the match on its head within the space of two minutes: first they equalised on 35 minutes thanks to the double from the ever-dangerous Cavalli, who unleashed a ferocious drive under the crossbar from a tight angle, leaving Casadei with no chance. Then the Biancorossazzurri made it 4-3 on 36 minutes: the winning goal was scored by Chezzi, who, making the most of a fine assist from Cavalli at the far post, fired home first time. An important victory for Levani’s side, allowing them to leapfrog Tre Penne and move to within one point of the trio of Murata, Domagnano and Virtus. A bitter defeat for Libertas, both for the dramatic manner in which it came about and because they missed the chance to pull away from the other sides – Cosmos and Faetano – level on points with them in the relegation zone.
