Futsal, the Championship restarts: showdown between finalists in Fiorentino
The wait is over: the San Marino Futsal Championship is also ready to get underway again for the 2022-23 season, packed with new features. Chief among them is the full participation of all fifteen teams affiliated to the FSGC, for the first time all lining up at the start of a national competition. Then there is the format: a regular season played in a single round-robin group with home and away fixtures, followed by a Preliminary Round in which the teams finishing between fifth and twelfth place will meet to join the top four in the Scudetto play-offs. It all kicks off tomorrow, Monday 3 October.
There will therefore be seven matches in each round of the league: while Juvenes-Dogana will be the first side to observe a rest day, the other two teams from the Castello di Serravalle will be thrown straight into a derby on opening night. In Dogana, from 20:15, Cosmos will take on Folgore. The club from Falciano, after their Super Cup win over Tre Fiori (5-0), currently holds all three national titles. It will therefore be interesting to assess the level of the opposition: at the same time in Fiorentino, Tre Fiori and La Fiorita will face off – the two sides that contested last season’s finals of both the Titano Futsal Cup and the San Marino Championship. Also kicking off at 20:15, but in Acquaviva, are Pennarossa and Faetano.
The only match scheduled for 21:15 will be played on the artificial pitch in Domagnano, which returns to hosting San Marino futsal competitions after a couple of seasons away. Domagnano’s Giallorossi will baptise the new Tre Penne project, with the club returning to the competition. The same goes for Murata, who are set to face San Giovanni. The Bianconeri and the Rossoneri will meet in Dogana at 21:45. The clash between Cailungo and Fiorentino will also kick off at 21:45. The Rossoverdi, back in competition last season, are looking for clear signs of progress. Their debut is anything but soft, against a Fiorentino side significantly strengthened during the summer transfer window and able to provide Michelotti with two mainstays of the San Marino national team in Protti and Busignani. Kick-off is at 21:45 in Fiorentino. Rounding off the schedule for the opening matchday of the San Marino Futsal Championship is Libertas v Virtus, to be played in Acquaviva from 21:45.
Here is the schedule and officials for the first matchday of the 2022-23 San Marino Futsal Championship:
