Futsal: last Saturday the referees’ training camp at San Marino Stadium

On the weekend immediately preceding the opening matchday of the Campionato Sammarinese di futsal, the refereeing team for the small-sided game was involved in the pre-season training camp, held in the conference rooms of the San Marino Stadium. The President of the Associazione Sammarinese Arbitri, Marcello Busignani, played host, opening proceedings shortly after welcoming and introducing the guests attending the camp. Among them were the Vice President of the Divisione Calcio a 5, Andrea Farabini, the AIA Deputy Technical Director Andrea Sabatini and Alessandro Malfer, Commissioner of CAN 5 Élite. Although unable to be physically present in the Republic, the AIA Deputy Vice President Francesco Massini still contributed to the smooth running of the San Marino refereeing camp by joining remotely.

The opening address was entrusted to Massimo Nanni, who, in sharing the general guidelines for the correct officiating of matches in the 2026-27 season, reiterated the importance of match management, including from a behavioural standpoint, fully in line with what had already been discussed with club coaches in the pre-season meetings. Through a video quiz, followed by feedback and group discussion, the match officials were able to examine some specific regulatory situations under the magnifying glass. Between the two sessions came the official greeting from the leadership of the San Marino Football Federation, Marco Tura (President) and Luigi Zafferani (General Secretary). Just before the lunch break, there was an in-depth discussion of topics related to reading the game, prevention and managing dissent. Situations involving potential DOGSO and SPA incidents, as well as the application of advantage and the importance of “wait and see”, preceded a session specifically dedicated to referee observers – the final item in a packed and engaging programme for the futsal refereeing group of San Marino.
