Futsal, here we go again: fixtures drawn tomorrow, Super Cup assigned next Tuesday

The 2022-23 San Marino futsal season is on the starting blocks: tomorrow evening, from 18:15 at the Casa del Calcio, the league fixture list for the Campionato Sammarinese and the bracket for the Titano Futsal Cup will take shape. For the first time, all fifteen clubs affiliated to the FSGC will be taking part. Both competitions have been revamped in terms of format, with solutions similar to those recently adopted in the national football competitions. The Titano Futsal Cup will in fact be played using a knockout bracket with four seeded teams, who cannot meet before the semi-finals. Folgore, as holders of the trophy, will begin their title defence from the quarter-final stage. All the other teams will face each other in two-legged ties, with extra time and penalties if required in the event of a draw on aggregate, starting from the round of 16. The other three seeded teams will also benefit from a more favourable position in the draw: in order of Ranking, these are Fiorentino, Tre Fiori and Domagnano. On paper, the semi-finals could therefore see Folgore-Domagnano and Tre Fiori-Fiorentino. The San Marino Futsal Championship will instead move to a single round-robin group. The teams will face each other over 30 matchdays, at the end of which the line-up for the post-season will be determined. The top four sides in the table will qualify directly for the play-offs, while the next eight (from fifth to twelfth place) will contest a two-legged Preliminary Round to determine the remaining four teams that will join them in the play-offs. Only the title decider and the third-place play-off can go to extra time and penalties if needed: in the previous rounds, if the aggregate score is still level at the end of the second leg, the team that finished higher in the regular season will advance. Before turning their attention to the league and the Titano Futsal Cup, Folgore and Tre Fiori will go head to head for the first silverware of the year: on Tuesday 27 September in Fiorentino, with kick-off at 21:00, the 2022 Futsal Super Cup will be contested. The clubs from Falciano and Fiorentino will present the match on Saturday 24 September, in a press conference scheduled for 11:30 at the Casa del Calcio.
