Futsal: outstanding Busignani fires the National Team to victory over Switzerland

Another four goals for the futsal National Team at the February Cup in Labin. And this time they take the full spoils. No comeback is needed to get the better of Switzerland, who trailed on the scoreboard for the entire match and only managed to put some pressure on Osimani’s men late in the second half, after at one stage having to deal with a 0-3 deficit. The Titani, however, keep their composure. On the buzzer comes the penalty that Busignani converts to put the seal on the result, giving himself a fourth goal on the day, his sixth of the tournament overall and, above all, a fine and deserved victory for the Titano side after the previous day’s draw with Malta. It takes the Biancoazzurri 39 seconds of playing time to get the match going exactly the way they want. Aaron Kagi does well to block Moretti in a one-on-one, but then he is beaten by a low drive from Busignani that comes from the very next kick-in. In the 3rd minute San Marino double their lead: Busignani intercepts a lazy pass from Bukcson and bears down on Aaron Kagi, beating him with a powerful low shot that hits the net after going through the Swiss keeper’s legs. A powerful, well-placed shot skimming the court is also what gives the San Marino side their third goal at the start of the second half. Pasqualini takes the corner for Busignani, who from mid-range once again finds the perfect corner to make it 3-0 and complete his hat-trick. In the final 10 minutes of effective time Switzerland make a serious attempt at a comeback. Silverio’s powerful right-footed strike and a 10-metre penalty from Elias Kagi make it 2-3, a scoreline that Osimani’s National Team defend with determination and clarity of thought right to the end. In fact, almost to the end, because a fraction of a second before the buzzer sounds Elias Kagi brings down Franciosi in the area. The refereeing team – which also includes San Marino official Laurentiu Ilie as third referee – allow the penalty to be taken, which Busignani dispatches without mistake, updating the scoresheet one last time and sending the Biancoazzurri into their third game of the tournament with a big boost, scheduled for today at 16:00, against Denmark.
