Futsal: three clubs chase direct qualification for the quarter-finals on the final day of the regular season

On the final matchday of the regular season of the Campionato Sammarinese di futsal, some positions in the table are still to be decided, which will determine the pairings that – through the play-off bracket – will crown the national champions in the first week of June. After losing third place in their previous game with Murata, Tre Fiori are aiming to secure fourth spot in the top-versus-bottom clash with Faetano. Bugli’s men have a one-point advantage over the duo of Juvenes-Dogana and La Fiorita, who would finish in that order – fifth and sixth respectively – should they end up level on points again tomorrow night. For the Serravalle club, who will be without Bologna, the Domagnano hurdle. By then La Fiorita will already have played, as they travel to Dogana to face Libertas in a match that offers the Granata ninth place. At the moment, overall goal difference favours Tre Penne, given the head-to-head record is perfectly balanced and the two sides are level in the table on 36 points. The fourteen-goal gap that currently separates the two teams would seem to give the club from Città a safety margin, as they face Murata in the derby on the Fiorentino artificial pitch. The positions in the table of the other sides involved in tomorrow evening’s fixtures have already been decided. These games, as in Faetano’s case, represent the final outing of the season for Cailungo and San Giovanni. The Rossoverdi meet Folgore, while San Giovanni are set to take on Virtus – who are already assured of seventh place, even if Domagnano were to draw level with them in the standings. For Pennarossa, who will meet the fifth-placed team at the end of the regular season in a two-legged Preliminary Round tie, this is a particularly testing assignment – against Fiorentino, who three days later will challenge Folgore for the first trophy of the year, the Titano Futsal Cup.
