Futsal: last call for Cailungo and San Giovanni
With Tre Fiori set for their rest round, La Fiorita and Murata will be keen not to miss the chance to move ahead of the Gialloblù from Fiorentino in the table. Their cousins, still with a perfect record, will face Libertas – who are pushing to improve their position in view of the post-season, benefiting from a double‑digit cushion over the play-off threshold. Within range for the Granata appears to be only Tre Penne, who will meet Juvenes-Dogana in what is perhaps the club from Città’s last opportunity to close the gap on the upper reaches of the standings. There, Virtus and Domagnano, facing off in Fiorentino, will battle for sixth place and the chance to edge closer to more ambitious positions. Folgore will take on Cosmos in a derby where they are clear favourites, just as La Fiorita are expected – on paper – to have the upper hand over Pennarossa. The only match in Domagnano, between Cailungo and San Giovanni, will give the winners a lifeline in this last call to chase twelfth place. A draw would likely end the hopes of both.
The entire programme will unfold tomorrow evening across seven outdoor fixtures. The most intriguing clash will take place in Fiorentino (kick-off 20:15), featuring Domagnano and Virtus. The Wolves, inconsistent so far, will take on the tenants of the floor above: Pollini’s men, sixth with a three‑point lead over the Giallorossi, are just five points behind Tre Fiori – currently third in the league. Bearing in mind the importance of finishing in the top four to avoid the Preliminary Round, this match takes on the contours of a must‑win encounter for both sides. The following game on the Fiorentino artificial pitch will see Tre Penne and Juvenes-Dogana go head to head. The Biancazzurri from Città, even without suspended Salles, want to reverse a trend that has seen them lose their last four matches; the same period in which Levani’s team, particularly impressive in recent outings, have remained unbeaten.
In Acquaviva, Murata and La Fiorita go in as clear favourites for tomorrow night’s fixtures. The Bianconeri, who have collected thirteen points from their last five games, will face Faetano – bottom of the table along with Cailungo and San Giovanni. A win in the 20:15 kick-off would temporarily lift Cellarosi’s side into third place. A position that could be taken away an hour later, provided La Fiorita do not slip up against Pennarossa. The Chiesanuova side hold an eight‑point cushion over third from bottom, in line with their seasonal target of booking a place in the post-season. Suspended players ruled out of the two Acquaviva games are Moretti (Murata), Rosa (Pennarossa) and Bacciocchi (Faetano).
In Dogana the big guns take to the court: Fiorentino are up first, chasing a seventeenth win in as many regular season outings. Lining up against them from 20:15 will be Libertas – who have won two of their last five games. The reverse fixture finished 5-1, with the Granata taking the lead before succumbing to Busignani and his team-mates. Folgore will then contest the Serravalle derby with Cosmos: the two sides approach the match in contrasting form. The Falciano outfit are on an eight‑game winning streak, while Cosmos – in their run against the current bottom three – have managed two draws and one win.
On the Domagnano artificial pitch, Cailungo and San Giovanni face off to escape the foot of the table – a position they currently share with Faetano – and relaunch their pursuit of Pennarossa and Cosmos. Victory could see them move to within five points of twelfth place, the minimum requirement to enter the play‑offs via the Preliminary Round. It goes without saying that a draw would be of no real benefit to either. Thomas Vitillo will definitely be absent, having been sent off in the defeat to Juvenes-Dogana in the previous round.
