Futsal Week: Sweden prevail in San Marino’s second June Cup match

After the defeat in their opener against Poland, the San Marino Futsal National Team yesterday afternoon also had to bow to Sweden in the second and final match of the Futsal Week June Cup in Poreč (Croatia). The Scandinavians broke the deadlock early through Smajlovic, who then doubled the lead shortly afterwards. The third goal for coach Matija Dulvat’s side arrived in the 11th minute with Bejan, who also set the seal on the first half. After the restart came the Titans’ goal to pull one back: from a kick-in, Andrea Franciosi picked out the run of Lorenzo Cecchini, who beat the Swedish goalkeeper from close range to make it 3-1. Sweden refused to sit back and cut loose in the closing stages. Soon after the Titans’ goal, Furublad struck to make it 4-1, before Soderqvist took centre stage with a quick-fire hat-trick. In between there was also time for goals by Zhubi (35') and Azizi (36'), which wrapped up a 9-1 win. Roberto Osimani’s national team return to the Republic this evening.
