Grana at UEFA Medical Committee in Nyon

Dr Simone Grana, Vice President of the FSGC, took part yesterday morning in the meeting of the UEFA Medical Committee, of which he is a member. In Nyon, a number of amendments to the Regulations were examined, including those affecting the crucial medical and healthcare activities. The committee also reviewed a series of findings on: i) tests and checks in UEFA competitions, starting from those introduced at EURO 2024; ii) a full report on the specific activities carried out during UEFA EURO 2024, which highlighted the excellent cooperation with the German national health system, able to support and enhance the extensive programme implemented for the event; iii) "CPR – Get trained, save lives", the UEFA campaign aimed at equipping fans and the wider public attending matches with the basic skills needed to perform chest compressions in the event of a confirmed emergency. There was also a look to the future, in terms of further upcoming investment in education and research. On the first point, the Medical Symposium 2025 was announced, to be held in Lugano in the early months of next year – open to two doctors and one physiotherapist from each member association. On the analytical front, meanwhile, a scientific study will be launched to assess whether the current number of matches played by footballers has negative effects on them.
