The Supercoppa Sammarinese to kick off the season on 1 September
During the meeting of the Federal Committee held last night at the Casa del Calcio, the San Marino Football Federation confirmed the start dates for Sammarinese football competitions. The 2023-24 season will get under way on the pitch with the Supercoppa Sammarinese: Tre Penne and Virtus will launch the new campaign, going head to head for the first trophy of the year. The clubs from Città and Acquaviva were also the last to take the field domestically, facing each other in the BKN301 Coppa Titano final on 27 May, when Virtus lifted the trophy with a 3-1 win. Another showdown is therefore scheduled for 1 September 2023, when the champions of San Marino and the holders of the national cup will meet at the dawn of the new sporting season.
For the other fourteen clubs, official fixtures will begin two weeks later, due to San Marino’s senior national team and Under-21 international commitments from 7 to 12 September. The weekend of 16-17 September will therefore mark the debut of the San Marino Academy U-22 in the BKN301 Campionato Sammarinese and, at the same time, the seasonal bow of the affiliated clubs. The team made up exclusively of players born no earlier than 2001 will be exempt from commitments in the BKN301 Coppa Titano. Under the regulations, Virtus – the reigning champions – will begin their title defence from the quarter-finals, benefiting from a bye in the first round of the competition. This is where the path will start for the other fourteen participating sides: the first leg of the round of 16 is scheduled for 27 September, with the return leg on 25 October.
In the coming weeks, the date of the official draw for the BKN301 Campionato Sammarinese and BKN301 Coppa Titano fixtures will be announced.
