Montegiardino: facility unusable due to structural instability

The San Marino Football Federation announces the closure of the building used as changing rooms at the Montegiardino facility. While specifying that the FSGC holds only delegated management, it immediately acted together with the San Marino National Olympic Committee to alert the Civil Protection Authority and request an inspection. Carried out on 24 November last, the inspection detected a "serious instability at the base of a pillar, with a risk of its collapse and of the overlying roof structure, as well as extensive cracking affecting the load-bearing walls of the entire building, with widespread damage. In view of the need and urgency to ensure public safety, the Civil Protection Authority has ordered the closure of the building, including a safety perimeter around the adjacent external area; access to the building and to the restricted areas is permitted exclusively to personnel expressly authorised to carry out surveys and technical work under safe conditions". The closure will remain in force until all the structural works required to guarantee the safe use of the building and its reopening to the public have been fully completed. In order to mitigate as far as possible the clear inconvenience caused to the normal organisation of football activities, the Federation is already working to identify alternative solutions to support the daily operations of the clubs affected by this situation.
