Paolo Rondelli among the ten UEFA Delegates for EURO 2024
He returned yesterday from Cologne, San Marino’s UEFA Delegate Paolo Rondelli, who will be entrusted with the keys to the organisational machine at the Rhein Energie Stadion from 12 June to 1 July. Rondelli has in fact been selected among the ten UEFA Delegates who will oversee the matches in each of the stadiums hosting UEFA EURO 2024 in Germany. This week a simulation of possible risk scenarios is taking place; from next week Rondelli will then be permanently based in Cologne together with more than 200 members of the stadium’s organisational staff and a further 1,000 volunteers.
Five EURO 2024 matches will see Rondelli serve as UEFA Delegate in Cologne, starting with Hungary–Switzerland on 15 June. It is the second game of the tournament, following the opening match the previous evening featuring hosts Germany. He will then be on duty for Scotland–Switzerland (19 June), Belgium–Romania (22 June), England–Slovenia (25 June) and a Round of 16 tie on 30 June.
Of the ten Delegates appointed for the European Championship, eight are men and two are women – marking an ever-greater female presence in senior operational roles across the various areas of responsibility. For Rondelli, this is “a unique opportunity, and I’m absolutely delighted”.
