Social Responsibility: FSGC attends UEFA seminar in Glasgow

FSGC has reaffirmed its strong commitment to developing football opportunities for people with disabilities by taking part in the UEFA seminar Share Grassroots Disability Football, organised in collaboration with the Scottish Football Association and held in Glasgow from 1 to 4 May, in the evocative setting of Hampden Park Stadium (home venue of the Scotland National Team). Representing FSGC were Grassroots Manager Carlo Chiarabini, Disability Lead Fabio Lepri and FSR Officer Andrea Zoppis, alongside colleagues from 20 other member associations. Over the three working days, participants had the opportunity to update their knowledge, learn new concepts and share best practices with their European counterparts, in an environment united by the common goal of developing disability football and fostering inclusion in all its forms and possibilities. By June 2024, each association is required to draw up a development plan to be submitted to UEFA for approval, covering medium to long-term activities through to 2028. In addition to classroom sessions and numerous group activities led by UEFA, there was also the opportunity to take part in practical training sessions with youth and senior teams made up of players with disabilities. It was an important learning experience that will help to build on the extensive work already carried out in recent years, from the Football is Inclusion programme to Walking Football initiatives, all aimed at the ultimate goal of making football accessible to everyone, as also set out in the FSGC Strategic Plan.
